Cloaking Devices

Cloaking Devices hide the user's ship from all ranges of the electromagnetic spectrum. There is no known countermeasure to the effect. While they make the user invisible, they do not make the user invulnerable. As they disable shields on use, this allows a quick-thinking pilot to do direct hull damage while they still know where the cloaked ship is. Missiles, mines, cruise disruptors, torpedoes, and all other seeking weaponry will continue to seek the target after a successful cloak. Upon activating the cloaking device, there is a short period (see below) before the cloaking device takes effect. Fuel is consumed during this time, and this should be taken into account when considering whether or not to use MOX as a fuel.

Cloaking devices, like jump drives, have an integrated multi-mode fusion power plant capable of generating power from a variety of fuels, though MOX is by far the most efficient and recommended. Other fuels include Deuterium, Oil, H-fuel, and Helium-3. The difference in rate at which these are consumed varies by device, but is listed below for reference.

Name Cargo Size Cargo Limit Cloak Delay MOX Deuterium Oil H-fuel Helium-3
Light Cloaking Device 25 120 max 3 1/sec 1/sec 1/sec 1/sec 1/sec
Cloaking Device MK2 200 900 max 20 1/sec 2/sec 2/sec 2/sec 2/sec
Cloaking Device MK2 Advanced 450 no max 60 1/sec 3/sec 3/sec 3/sec 3/sec
