| Gas Miner Naha
|
- The Outcasts have entered Sigma-13 in recent times. They are quite similar to the Corsairs, yet seem to hate them as much as anyone else. They access this system through our own Jump Hole from Sigma-19, and raid our mining platforms and ships passing through the Trade Lanes in the north. We must be more vigilant in our patrols.
- Naha isn't producing as much H-Fuel as it did in the past. The highest concentrations of gases we use to mix H-Fuel have dispersed or been gathered in this region, and we have found other sites with more abundant reserves. Newer mining techniques allow us to slowly gather gas from the remaining clouds, but it is no longer our most profitable venture.
- Samura has betrayed our trust countless times. We made a pact with them centuries ago to simplify the sale and transport of our H-Fuel. They abused and exploited that agreement, driving up prices and costing us much business. Now we receive a fair market price from Kishiro for our H-Fuel, whilst Samura looks for new ways to anger us. They have established their own Gas Mining operations in Hokkaido, but that region is not as abundant as some of ours, and the Blood Dragons harass them very often.
- Welcome to Naha, one of the older Gas Mining platforms still in the GMG fleet. Naha has been in operation for centuries, and has had a colorful past. Rheinland overplayed its hand when it seized this base during the 80 years war. They entered into a fight they could not win. Although most of the debris from the Battle of Yanagi are now cleared, small bits of wreckage still float everywhere. A grim reminder to those who would try to take the Crow away from us.
- We are most upset that the Corsairs have chosen to consort with the Hogosha in the Artifact trade, and in piracy of our ships. Our former friends have betrayed us, they are now our enemies. The Junkers used to give them shelter on their Yanagi base - but once ALG finished the hazardous debris removal, there was no reason for the Junkers to remain. We gave them a choice, to leave or become another cloud of debris. Most of them chose wisely.
- Our ancestors are Kusari fishermen that were forced to leave Honshu in the second century, after the fishing stocks became severely depleted. Famine drove them to the stars. They entered the Crow Nebula in search of something new to harvest. After 20 years of wandering, they found Hydrogen and Helium isotopes that were far more abundant here than anywhere else in the Sirius sector, and realised these would be a very potent fuel source for the "Liberty Engine". That is how they became the first Gas Miners.
- The Rheinland Military has only recently gotten a limited allowance to enter into the Sigmas again. Not all of us were happy with that decision. Many sons and daughters of the GMG sacrificed their lives to fight the Rheinland invaders during the war. The GMG lost over half of its people during those dangerous times. Some things should not be forgotten, I think. Unless history is to repeat itself. Rheinland is known for lashing out at its neighbours.
- I just finished preparing a H-Fuel shipment to the Stuttgart system. We have a contract with Republican that keeps Freiburg fully stocked in order to refuel ships entering Rheinland from the Omegas. Bretonian shipping companies usually pick up H-Fuel there as well.
- This has been our primary gas production area since 300 AS. Kishiro came through with new gas mining ships and technologies that allow us to refine gases with a lower isotope density, but the process is more expensive then traditional mining. The upside is that these modern gas mining platforms are better armed, so they can defend themselves from pirates.
- Most of the great battlefields from the 80-Years War lay scattered around this system. In 668 we decisively defeated the Rheinland Imperial Navy at the Battle of Yanagi Cloud. ALG and the Junkers have removed most of the hazardous wrecks and debris that were hazardous to ships passing through the Trade Lane, but remnants of the battle still linger throughout this system.
- You must be careful of the oxygen pockets within Sigma-13. Many ships have stumbled unawares into these dangerous traps over the years. They are interesting phenomena created when an oxygen pocket coalesces into a denser, semi-liquid form. It usually doesn't react with the hydrogen in the nebula because the temperature is so low that the ignition critera aren't met. But one static spark or blast from an engine exhaust can change that quickly, and cause the gases to react explosively.
- Our partnership with Samura has come to an end after decades. I'm not sure if it was wise to dismiss them as harshly as was done, Samura has a lot of influence, both legal and otherwise. The Corsair and Hogosha attacks on us have sharply increased over the last years, making this region a lot less safe then it was.

| Helgoland Station
|
- Now that the remnants of the Yanagi battle have been cleared, Helgoland has been turned over to the GMG as per the stipulations of the contract ALG had. Helgoland has been a large salvage yard for years, it won't be hard to convert it into a small shipyard to maintain our Gas Miners. The GMG does not have many large ships, it is not our way - but it is still good to have a place to service the few we have, then to have to rely on an outside party such as Kishiro to maintain them.
- Sometimes people ask if those protostars in the center of this region pose a danger. In all honesty, they do, but not within our lifetimes. Stellar formation takes millions of years, and these two concentrations are relatively recent ones, probably some 50,000 years old. Eventually, they are likely to merge and ignite into a standard M type dwarf star. When that happens, we'd best not be around, but that's a few hundred thousand years ahead of us yet.
- This GMG project is ambitious. We do not have any experience in doing large-scale shipwrighting. Most of our ships are small, and are built aboard our larger Gas Miner platforms. A fullsized shipyard, even a small one, is new ground for us.
- There used to be a jumphole to New Berlin to the east of the base, but it is gone now. When the largest irradiated components were removed from the debris field, it changed the balance of the system, and several far Jump Holes destabilised as a result. The Jump Gates are unaffected as far as we can tell.
- We have known for years that the Junkers were involved in illicit goods trafficking, but up until now they had a purpose - to assist ALG in the removal of the Yanagi debris. With the end of that, the only thing the Junkers are still good for is smuggling and harboring our enemies. We tolerate neither.
- Helgoland is likely part of the GMG's long term plan for this region. Sigma-13 is our sovereign space, and a major trade route, but once Gas Mining becomes unfeasable here, we'll need another purpose for this area. Making a profit from its location and the presence of the Trade Lanes seems the logical thing to do.
- Trade between Rheinland and Kusari has been steadily increasing over the past years. The two Houses are growing closer to eachother, which is good for us. It stabilises the region. Corsair and Outcast raiders remain a problem however, so ships do tend to get damaged. It is another reason why a shipyard in this system is not a bad thing to have.
- Aside from maintaining our own ships, we hope to entice some independent shipping companies to call at Helgoland for maintenance eventually. It is in a very strategic spot - right between the abundant minerals that Rheinland is blessed with, and the Optronics and Hull Panel industries of Kusari. It should allow us to set very competitive rates here.
- With the radiation gone, this part of the Crow Nebula is slowly returning to it's natural state. That means where there is light traffic, there will be Oxygen Pockets which pose a hazard, especially to lightly shielded ships. Transport Shields can usually handle them, but Freighters or smaller Fighters need to avoid those areas or risk being destroyed. Sometimes, transports under attack by pirates will try to flee into one - not all of them make it back out however. The heavy traffic around various stations and along the lanes ensures those areas stay safe.

| Planet Kurile, Samura Platform
|
- The facility here on Kurile supplies Junyo with the Alien Organisms it needs to feed fish in its farms. The flight is not an easy one. But if you were to haul a load, I'm sure it would be worth your while. Make sure you have a fast ship - the Alien Organisms will slowly perish while outside of an atmosphere.
- The average lifespan of the fish workers here in Kurile is higher than anywhere else in all of house space, perhaps even Sirius. The only other place that has an average lifespan this long is Junyo, although I've heard that Outcasts are known for their longevity. Interesting... But perhaps it is simply the simple life we enjoy here. There is no danger in this kind of farming.
- My son has been eating the fish raised in Junyo all his life. We get excellent prices since we provide them with their Alien Organisms. When he went to New Tokyo he became very ill, but once he returned, he recovered very quickly. I think he has grown accustomed to the atmosphere on this planet.
- Shipments to and from this base often fall victim to Corsair attacks. This system is right along their Artifact route, or so I've heard. It is unfortunate because we wish them no harm here. We are simple farmers.
- The workers at this base want to be here. It is isolated, so we are left to our very simple way of life without much interruption. There is much peace in a simple life - a peace that I could not find in New Tokyo or anywhere else. It is not a life that is for everyone. Isolation can drive people to insanity. If we see it happen in someone, the company will rotate him or her back to New Tokyo. But it is rare.
- The only way that Samura could compete with Synth Foods was to find a way to boost the amount of fish that our fish farms could produce. Alien Organisms were the answer. They are in demand at our facility in Junyo. The Cryer facility to the west studies the organisms for their own purposes. More recently, Planetform has become interested in them as well. Aside from feeding fish, they seem well-suited to jump start an ecology, or so I'm told. We have no shortage of them on this planet, so we don't restrict the export.
- Though we are Samura employees, this place is so isolated from the main body of Samura that we do not feel like we are connected. The farmers here are not company soldiers but family men. Harvesting the Organisms here is something that my family has been doing for generations. My son is learning the tricks of the trade now, and he will likely teach his son afterwards.
- If you have any interest in going to Liberty, you could purchase the Alien Organisms we cultivate here and ship them to the terraforming operations on Atka or California Minor. Liberty uses them for terraforming and research purposes.
- Samura has sent scientists to this base to study our Alien Organisms more closely. Concern has been raised about the fact that we are indirectly eating them, because the fish absorb some of the more unusual alien compounds into their flesh. I am not certain what they are so worried of. The fish who eat our food are healthier then the stock they used to produce.

| Luxury Liner Hawaii

- We are not at all surprised the Hogosha turned on us once we broke with Samura. It is a well known fact that the Hogosha and Samura have very strong ties. Samura maintains a front of legality, but their practises are as underhanded as those of the Hogosha themselves. I've heared rumors of them putting some kind of addictive substance in the fish food at Junyo. Needless to say, I'm not touching any of the foods sold on this ship, that came from there.
- Orbital Spa's reluctance to remove these Hogosha and Corsair criminals from this ship is troubling. I do not think that Orbital realises that they are here by our say-so. Sigma space is GMG space, something Rheinland learned the hard way. If their excuse is not wanting to anger the Corsairs, then they should not put one of their ships in the middle of a Corsair smuggling route.
- We supply this base with many basics. We also like to keep an eye on the Hogosha and Corsair dealings here. The Corsairs betrayed us when they decided to rather deal with our enemies then us. In turn, we have banned the movement of artifacts through GMG space. In practise, this means the Corsairs are our enemies now.

| Gas Miner Ogashawa
|
- The GMG fought the entire Rheinland Navy and won in the 80-Years War. We are not afraid of the Corsairs even if everyone else is. They have decided to make us their enemies by cutting us out of the Artifact trade, then attacking our people. If we see a Corsair in this system, we will strike first. This is GMG space!
- With Sigma-13 almost depleted of Gases we had to come to this system to tap into its resources. Kishiro does a roaring trade from gas mining here. They make the best gas mining ships, because they always had to accept mining Gases from less desirable areas when Samura was in partnership with the GMG. Their ships had to be more efficient to compete. Now that we entered into a partnership with them we can combine the best technology with the most abundant deposits of fuel gases.
- One of the GMG's best pilots left his patrol and pursued a fleeing Outcast fighter into the Donryu Cloud. The Hien never returned. An Outcast ambush is suspected, but no one knows. He had some very good weapons aboard.
- The Outcasts in this system have made themselves quite a nuisance, because they feel that our presence here is an infringement upon their territory. We try to stay out of their way for the most part, though we used to venture into the Donryu Cloud. We soon learned that that was a mistake.
- The GMG has dealt with Samura for several centuries before our recent switch to Kishiro. We are responsible for a large part of Samura's wealth, but they have not shown us the respect we deserve. It is for this reason that the GMG changed to Kishiro as a partner. Samura assumed their position in Kusari made them untouchable. They were wrong.
- The Hogosha may be powerful in Kusari space, but this is not Kusari space. When the Hogosha agreed to deal us out of the lucrative Artifact trade between them and the Corsairs, they made a powerful enemy for themselves. Samura should have intervened. The fact that they later joined in the trade themselves, shows us how little Samura respects us, and was another reason for us to decide to terminate our partnership with them.
- An exploratory GMG expedition consisting of the Hosho Maru and her two escorts was sent into Omicron Beta. The last communication from the three ships was garbled, but it appears that instead of finding H-Fuel, there were Alien Organisms for the taking. Soon after, a brief distress signal fragment suggests the convoy was being attacked by some unknown enemy. No further transmissions were received. This was one of our first encounters with the Outcasts.
- Much of the H-Fuel that drives Sirius is mined and mixed here. We now prefer Kishiro as our primary shipper, but some customers prefer to get their H-Fuel directly from us. The Zoners who live out in the Omicrons are one such group. They do not have a lot of money to spend, so they cut out any intermediates when possible. Kishiro doesn't mind them, they will not risk going into the Omicrons. It is too dangerous for them.
- The Corsairs used to be our friends, but that was a long time ago. We served as intermediaries in the Artifact trade between them and the Hogosha. Unwisely, they have decided to try and cut us out of the trade. Nowadays its all about piracy. We allow Bounty Hunters to use our stations here and in Sigma-13 freely although we do not sponsor many bounties ourselves.
- There are unexploited resources in the Donryu Cloud at the northern edge of this system, but the Outcasts guard that area fiercely. Any miners who have gone into the Donryu return damaged, if they return at all. To venture into Omicron Beta is horribly dangerous and not often attempted, though there is an abundance of resources there.
- Hawaii is a valuable customer to us and an easy run to make. The H-Fuel they use for their pleasure skiffs is supplied by this base. The fact that Orbital Spa lets the Corsairs and Hogosha conduct their business aboard the Hawaii is a problem for us however. If we find that either of those groups start to base out of that liner, we will have no choice but to remove it from our system.
- This base gets the majority of its supplies from Aomori and Planet Honshu. Anything else that we need is either mined or brought here by Kishiro shippers - mainly Mining Machinery and Basic Alloy.

| Niigata Star City
|
- There's no doubt about it anymore. GMG is entering a Golden Age. Our space has been more peaceful then it has ever been in centuries, despite the Corsair and Outcast incursions. GMG borders have greatly expanded and include just as many operations outside of the clouds as within. Our developments have more than doubled and more importantly, thanks to all the wars, the demands for H-Fuel are skyrocketing. Eventually, our people will even have a planet to settle on, but it will be some time yet before it is comfortable to do so.
- Many in Kusari are trying to portray our assault on Kurile as but the mere antics of greed. I can be first to admit that they aren't far off from the truth because Samura's conservative methods are too painful to watch when we are ready to harvest that planet in earnest so that it's wealth may be distributed across Sirius in a more efficient fashion. There is a bigger less known picture behind all this. GMG does consider that space its territory, and does not appreciate Samura's intrusion, along with their Hogosha lapdogs. We will protect what is ours, we've had to endure Samura extortion and trickery long enough, we can and will take action against it.
- We are very fortunate we've managed to keep Okinawa secret from the public long enough to entrench ourselves. It's not as easy for us like it is for a house. Our claim would have been rejected had we not already had fully setup industries underway to make their contribution to Sirius - Samura would likely have moved in and staked a claim on Miura themselves. It's the game we have to play out here because while a House has the military power to claim an empty space as their with little to no one to refute it meanwhile we have to ensure we are fully there to justify the claim as ours.
- We might have underestimated these Outcasts in Omicron Beta. We didn't expect them to offer much resistance but they continue to fight hard to this very day. We do not see any industrial developments beyond Ruiz in Beta yet their territorial nature refuses to give. Eventually we'll dislodge them, but for now we will avoid that area. With the reserves in Okinawa, Sigma-13 and Sigma-19, there is no reason to initiate a bloody conflict over resources we will not develop rightaway.
- Sometimes I find it so hard to meet eye to eye with my neighbors in Kusari. How can I be blamed? Six hundred years and still we find ourselves reminding Kusari of our sovereign space. One of these days it's going to happen where they learn once and for all where their border ends and ours begins. Mark my words, Rheinland will not be the only House that has to learn this lesson the harshest way.
- After all these years we still find ourselves caught up with the misnomer that is our name. Perhaps it's time to change it soon. Afterall we also produce significant quantities of Uranium, used to be the intermediaries in the Alien Artifacts trade, and we have our eyes on Alien Organisms that benefit terraforming, which we can gather from various sources at the edge of our space. Still, the H-Fuel trade accounts for the bulk of our business.

| Battleship Daishouri
|
- Patrols in Sigma-59 are dull. I heard we'll be opening our space up to general traffic soon. I doubt that will bring much actual traffic. Sigma-59 isn't a shortcut from anywhere to anywhere. The only reason people have to come here, is to visit one of the stations in this system. Unfriendly visitors we get to deal with. Here's to hoping we'll have a couple.
- There were several reasons to repurpose these defeated ships, despite their looks. For one, it was practical - these are very powerful ships that can serve as carriers for our fightercraft as well. Another reason is the message these ships send to our enemies. We may not have many capital ships, but we do not need them to be victorious.
- At first I was glad I was assigned to this ship. Being on this ship is probably the safest place to be on in the sector, but that's the problem, it's too safe. We are supposed to guard the back door from the Hispanics but we have barely seen any action. Most of the time, by the time we are launching the Daishouri's weapons have already neutralised any threat. I almost wish I was on the Ayakashi. I hear they are finding no end of excitement.
- I'm a gunner on this vessel. Don't worry, I'm off duty. Not that there is much to do while on duty. You can only calibrate weapons and tracking sensors so often before you end up making things worse instead.
- This battleship was refitted by Dr. Namura many years ago. Only recently was it brought back into service. After the loss of the Namura, our leaders were unsure whether these ships were worth the expense, both in resources and manpower. They are now cast in a defensive role instead, supporting our military fighters rather then being a spearhead themselves. This is both safer and more effective.
- Don't let the lack of enemies here in Sigma-59 fool you. We have put in our time on regular patrol and are the best of the GMG paramilitary. If our enemies dare show their faces in this system we will show them we aren't just boasting. A month ago, a few Outcasts tried their luck. Not one of them escaped.
- I've seen the wreck of the Namura with my own eyes. Perhaps you will see it yourself some day. It lays deep inside Outcast controlled space, a reminder to us that we should not overextend ourselves, or think these mighty warships equate victory. They do not.
- Once Sigma-59 is opened for general trade, I suppose we will have to be both police and military again. Scanning every ship for contraband or hazards may seem tedious, but you never know what you come across. I had a Junker pass by Naha with what he claimed were H-Fuel Gas canisters - but we have sensors that are specifically calibrated to scan for the actual presence of H-Fuel. To prevent smuggling. Eventually we found that the fool had stowed the canisters with Cardamine gas. Creative, and it might have fooled the Rheinland Police, but not us. There is now one less Junker smuggler flying around in Sirius.
- This area is more or less a headquarters for our organisation, both in military and civilian terms. It is at the core of GMG controlled space, not really on any trade route - so not a whole lot of traffic. Still, given the importance of the facilities here, it is only a matter of time before our enemies start to send forces against us. We have prepared for that event.
- Did you know that Daishouri means "Triumphant Victory?" An appropriate name for a war prize, if you ask me. The Daishouri's current job is to keep our facilities in Sigma-59 safe, mainly from Outcast incursions. The Outcasts will occasionally try to raid our systems here, but this is one of the most heavily defended areas in GMG controlled space. Their ships fare no better here then ours did in Omicron Beta.
- The Daishouri is one of three Rheinland battleship wrecks that were salvaged and restored by the Gas Miners Guild after the 80 years war. We wanted to secure as many of these hulks as possible, just in case Rheinland got it in their heads to invade again, but most of them were too damaged to be salvagable.
- This ship is the most heavily armored and armed brick we have. It is not as agile as her sister ship, the Ayakashi, but makes up for it in firepower and endurance. It made sense to assign this ship to the defense of this region, and the nearby jump hole. Any Outcasts, Corsairs or Hogosha that try to sneak past quickly learn the meaning of "excessive firepower".

| Wichter Station
|
- I make regular runs here from our stations in the Crow, we sell H-fuel and buy ship hull panels. It's usually a quiet trip, although sometimes Kruger will harass us if they think they can get away with it. But if the Guild and ALG blow up a Kruger ship deep in the clouds, who's going to report it?
- ALG is the only company in Rheinland the Gas Miners Guild has good relations with. The 80-years-war might have been a long time ago, but if there was any hope of normalizing relations with Rheinland, the Sigma war put an end to that. They will never accept that the Crow's resources belong to us. But we do not care for their ambitions, we have already proven that to them twice.

| Planet Honshu
|
- We buy our supplies for Aomori in Honshu. We also sell our H-Fuel produced in Naha. Now that we sell direct to Kishiro, we sell a lot more here.
- Honshu is our ancient homeland. I try to visit my ancestral village every chance I get. We try to maintain strong ties with our past on Honshu. After all, this is the only habitable planet that most of us have ever known.
- The Outcasts and Corsairs have entered Honshu space in recent years. This is a very troublesome development for the GMG, as the Trade Lanes through the clouds are our main arteries of commerce. The Guild is considering upgrading our shield technology to match that of the foreign invaders.

| Aomori Station
|
- This base has come under attack by the Outcasts since they discovered the Jump Hole from Sigma-19. We have attempted to patrol it, but they are fearsome fighters, blasting their way through our blockades with impunity.
- We buy our basic supplies in Honshu. For many of us, it is difficult to walk planetside, after spending our entire lives in stations that simulate half the normal gravitational force. From here it is a short journey through the Gate to Sigma-19, the site of our newest field.
- The Corsairs and Hogosha were once our friends and partners in the Artifact business. Then they became greedy and bypassed us to trade directly with each other. Following on from that were the raids and piracy of our ships. We do not forget such betrayals easily. All Hogosha and Corsairs are now shot on sight.
- Sometimes Samura can be so naive. They have never understood where the Blood Dragons get their financial support. We are the silent partner. The GMG decided to aid the fledgling movement of the Blood Dragons to exact our revenge for centuries of theft and humiliation at the hands of Samura.
- Samura thinks that once that the government completes the Chugoku Gate project that Hokkaido will finally be theirs. They are gravely mistaken. The GMG will ensure that the Blood Dragons live on, and do not rest in peace until Samura abandons Hokkaido. The victory will be sweet.
- We were searching of a planet to call home. We found Miura. Its not quite the ocean world we had hoped for. It was frozen, with a choking atmosphere. Now they say it is bearable. With GMG know-how, and a few hundred years, Miura could be an icy bastion like New Berlin!
- The GMG encountered a Corsair raiding party in the Chuyu Cloud a few days ago. They engaged and destroyed most of the fighters, but one heavily damaged ship escaped to the Hiryo Cloud. The GMG set up an ambush near the Sigma-13 Jump Hole, but the Corsair never arrived.
- Sigma-13 and 19 are the heart of GMG territory. We will defend it fiercely if threatened, as Rheinland did during the 80-Years War. The wreckage of the Rheinland fleet remains in Sigma-13 to this day, floating in the vacuum of the Yanagi Debris Field.
- The GMG has secretly trained many of the best pilots of the Blood Dragons. We gained much valuable tactical knowledge of how to fight in the clouds of the Crow Nebula during our long war with the Rheinlanders.
- Kishiro's superior gas miners, and their partnership with us in Okinawa has been a windfall. We were right to abandon Samura, ending our centuries long agreement with the old lady of Kusari.

| Isehara Refinery

- We were searching of a planet to call home. We found Miura. Its not quite the ocean world we had hoped for. It was frozen, with a choking atmosphere. Now they say it is bearable. With GMG know-how, and a few hundred years, Miura could be an icy bastion like New Berlin!
- I fly the occasional mission for the Gas Miners Guild as an escort and fighter pilot. There are also several fat Naval Forces bounties on members of the Golden Chrysanthemum. Being a free-wheeling mercenary, I'm able and willing to collect. I've equipped my Eagle with the appropriate shields and weapons for countering the G.C. There's one pilot in particular, Noriko Sato, which I'd like to bring in.

| Planet Miura

- They say that Liberty finally put a stop to corrupt officials selling off their prisoners as Slaves. I know better. There is always a demand for 'excess labour', even here. The Guild Paramilitary brings what is left of Slave shipments headed to Outcast space. Not all of these people go home. Some stay on to find a new life here, others fall through the cracks and end up as indentured servants in one of the unregulated mining sites.
- The Guild has always wanted to find a water planet to settle. And we eventually did, albeit one that is utterly frozen. Some people say one day the ice will melt and we will finally have oceans to sail like our Honshu ancestors did. I think the best we can hope for is a frozen citadel like New Berlin. At any rate it will be centuries before this place is fully established.
