Lenora Schneider is a young flag officer in the Rheinland Military. Despite rapid early advancement, between her brother Klaus's connections to the Volksfront and her uncle Hektor's reputation in Das Wilde, her career has faltered at Leutnant. Though the recent actions of those sharing her last name and her tendency toward prudence rather than heroism have kept her from receiving positive attention, Admiral Gunther Rall has recently noticed her tactical prowess and stubbornness as a valuable resource, recommending her for special training and assignments.

History

Lenora's life has been a series of hardships, tragedies, and prejudices. Through perseverance, raw talent, and sheer stubbornness, she has endured them all and become a flag officer in the Rheinland Military.

Childhood

On December 7th, 798 A.S. Lenora was born to Sebastian and Sophia Schneider. Losing nearly every member of her immediate family by the time she was eight, she grew up surrounded by tragedy, learning to stand on her own and to cherish everything she still had.

Family

The Schneider family has a long and proud military tradition, with a nearly flawless record of every male serving since the Eighty Years War. While Lenora's father, Sebastian, was unable to serve due to a medical condition, Sebastian's brother Hektor reached the rank of Leutnant in only a few years of service. While most of her extended family opposed the idea of women in the military, they are all diehard patriots, constantly surrounding Lenora with nationalist pride.

The Nomad War

While Lenora was only two years old during the events of the Nomad War, it would shape her personal development as she came to terms with its effects. First and foremost, her uncle Hektor was listed killed in action, leaving a whole in the Schneider military legacy. A prodigal pilot, her brother Klaus was groomed as a successor of sorts, leaving Lenora as the second and mostly unnecessary sibling. The more mainline events of the Nomad War- most notably, Rheinland's moment of short-lived glory- would continue to shape her as the years and her understanding progressed.

Father's Death

When Lenora was eight, her father Sebastian was killed in a mining accident in Dresden while working for Daumann Heavy Construction. Her brother Klaus took a similar job in order to support the family, putting his- and the family as a whole's- dreams of military glory on hold for the time being. Shortly thereafter, Lenora's mother Sophia gave birth to Felix, and her relatives wondered if he might finally be the one to return to the military, as Klaus would likely be unable to pursue that while he still had to support his siblings.

Early Adolescence

At age thirteen, Lenora's brother Klaus was listed lost in Omega-11 and assumed dead. Though some of her relatives placed their hopes of a glorious return to the military on Lenora's younger brother Felix, Lenora was determined to show them all that she was just as capable as any of her predecessors, dropping everything else to maximize her chances. Within three years, the last skeptic relatives were convinced that yes... perhaps she could do it after all.

Military Service

At age 18, Lenora applied for the the Rheinland Military officer training corps, not enlisting as a grunt like many of her relatives had expected. Accepted on the spot, she excelled in training and entered active duty later that year, quickly achieving the rank of Feldwebel. Serving against the Red Hessians for much of her first year in active duty, she found herself a powerful bomber pilot, making deadly use of the Bergelmir against the tides of Outcast Destroyers utilized by Rheinland's enemies.

Liberty-Rheinland War

Once war broke out between Liberty and Rheinland, Lenora was re-assigned to Battleship Westfalen in Hamburg. Not usually serving on the front, she instead goes after enemy vessels penetrating into the Rheinland interior. On one occasion, she pursued a heavily-armored Liberty Assault Battlecruiser through Frankfurt and New Berlin with her Bergelmir, bringing it down to the verge of total hull collapse singlehandedly before reinforcements could locate the battle, earning her a promotion to Leutnant.

Valkyrie Squadron

Though herself not a member of the renowned Valkyrie Squadron, Rheinland's elite recon forces, Lenora has worked closely with them on numerous occasions. An honorary commander on their mobile base the RNC Ammersee, she has learned much from them about the important of squad cohesion and flexibility. It is through the Valkyries that Lenora came to the attention of Admiral Gunther Rall, who has since selected her for a mission of national significance.

Family Relations

Though her father, brother, and uncle were all pronounced dead at one point or another, this was only true for her father. Klaus Schneider resurfaced a year after his apparent death, working with the Red Hessians and later leading the Volksfront. Hektor Schneider re-appeared in 816 A.S. at the head of a Das Wilde battlegroup, laying waste to commerce across all of southern Rheinland and even into the Sigma-13 diamond trade, and has been responsible for scores of atrocities since that time.

Lenora and Klaus

Though completely overshadowed by her brother for eight years, Lenora was as proud of Klaus' achievements as the rest of her family. However, when he resurfaced as leader of the Volksfront, that pride turned to bitterness and resentment. In her eyes, she had sacrificed her own personal wishes for the family's dream- his dream- and for that, he had become one of the most iconic enemies to the nation they had both fought for. Klaus does not reciprocate this feeling, ashamed that he let her down and viewing his fight as one to ensure that fewer Rheinlanders have to grow up losing family like they did. As such, he does what he can to avoid her.

Lenora and Hektor

Hektor, having once been a Leutnant doing everything to protect his nation just as Lenora is now, sees his niece as innocent and naive. His agents keep track of her, looking for opportunities to show her the same revelations that changed him. Lenora, however, hates Das Wilde with a vengeance, viewing them as a perversion of Rheinland's glory. Still blaming them for her uncle's death, after the ferocity and uncontrollable hatred she displayed upon first encounter with Das Wilde, the Rheinland Military has taken some precautions to keep her from running off on a suicide mission; most notably, not informing her that her uncle is alive and responsible for many of the atrocities that enrage her so. Hektor is content to allow this, patiently waiting for the right moment to reveal himself.

Lenora and Felix

Seeing a mirror of what she went through when Klaus was the favored child of her extended family, Lenora has gone to great lengths to maintain connections with her younger brother. Though the rest of her family is content that she does them proud, she refuses to let Felix grow up abandoned, and has encouraged him to follow his dreams regardless of what anyone else- even her- says. Felix, currently at the age of eleven, has taken a fascination with writing. While the few relatives and extended family that care about Felix don't much approve, hoping for another male in the military, Lenora has all but threatened them to leave him alone.
