"Hellbore" Battleship Heavy Mass Driver

Improving anti-warship damage while maintaining adequate rates of fire at the largest scales forced the Royal Armament Research Group at BMM to apply modern technologies to venerable solutions. A series of highly conductive electromagnetic coils around a smoothbore barrel charge and discharge in sequence to rapidly accelerate a 180-millimetre armour-piercing shaped charge projectile to supersonic speeds. Upon impact, an explosive charge in the payload rapidly superheats and deforms a tungsten plate, turning it into a hypervelocity jet of molten metal that sears through anything short of a space station's emergency shields. During the last stages of the Gallic War, plans for the weapon were leaked, and copies begane to appear throughout Sirius, including within Gallia's borders under the name "Mons Meg".
