The New York system is the capital of [[Liberty|House Liberty]] and one of the most populated areas of the entire Sirius Sector. Centered around a relatively cool G8-class star not unlike the sun of the Sol System are two fully habitable and colonized planets, Manhattan and Pittsburgh. The latter also features a moon, Maine. Further locations of interest include nine permanent space stations (of which one is home to the Liberty Rogues and another owned by the Junkers), two stationary capital-sized ships with full docking facilities, the mysterious Badlands and the enigmatic Zone 21.
The system's geography is dominated by the many scrap fields that arose from years of industrial exploitation. Named after the former States of Detroit and New Jersey and the City of Pittsburgh, they are frequented by corporate clean-up crews, self-employed salvagers as well as the occasional pirate or smuggler. The system's deep south is home to the already mentioned Badlands, a peculiar dark matter cloud which used to be home to two research stations, Benford and Ithaca, until external circumstances forced them to be abandoned by their crews.
New York is host to five major corporations and countless pirate outfits preying on them. There are jump gates and holes to four different systems. Located near the Sector Core, it is frequently used as central point of reference by map-makers across Sirian space, a fact which the Liberty Government is eager to promote.

{{| {- |===Planet Manhattan===
|
|Location: D/4 |Founded in the year 1 A.S., Manhattan was the first human colony established in the Sirius Sector. Over the last eight centuries it has grown into a teeming world of over 2.1 billion people who live and work in a number of large metropolises that dot the planet's surface. It still remains a bustling tourist destination, however, with many gorgeous sandy beaches and crowded shopping promenades. {- |===Planet Pittsburgh===
|
|Location: F/2 |Pittsburgh is covered by a single vast desert, broken only by large rocky outcroppings that were big enough to escape being swallowed up by the sand. Without any ice asteroids in close proximity, the planet was not considered a good candidate for terraforming and remained sparsely populated until a full-scale mineral survey in 650 A.S. pinpointed enormous deposits of Boron in the form of borax salts deep within the Corridera Plateau. A large scale mining operation was established on the planet in 660 A.S. by Deep Space Engineering to exploit these deposits, and it is now one of the only raw material extraction facility left within Liberty space. {- |===Maine===
|
|Location: F/2 |Surveyed in 1 A.S. along with the rest of the New York system, Maine has never had any resources worth the effort to extract them, or enough atmosphere to allow any effective colonisation effort. Deep Space Engineering, who own the rights to Maine, sometimes lease it out to the Liberty Navy and Detroit Munitions, in order for them to conduct weapons testing on the planet. |}}
Unformed Solar Bodies
Badlands
Location: D/6
>>>WARNING: NAVIGATIONAL HAZARD<<<
The Badlands is a particulate cloud filled with asteroids and subject to intense electrical activity that renders most scanners inoperable. Two government research stations, Bedford and Ithaca, were constructed here to study these unique environmental phenomena. However, the Badlands also provides a natural refuge for all types of criminal elements. The Battleship Missouri has since been deployed to protect Liberty interests in the area and deter pirate attacks against nearby Trade Lanes.
Zone-21
Location: G/5
>>>WARNING: RESTRICTED AREA<<<
All information concerning Zone 21 is CLASSIFIED by the Liberty Navy and the area protected by a minefield. Any unauthorized ships attempting to breach the Zone 21 minefield or enter Zone 21 itself will be nullified WITHOUT EXCEPTION OR EXEMPTION.
Detroit Debris Field
Location: C/5
An industrial dumping ground left over from early expansion efforts, it is now frequented by Junkers and Rogues.
Jersey Debris Field
Location: C/3
A floating junkyard, the byproduct of orbital development around Manhattan. Some criminal activity is present, chiefly drug runners and smugglers, along with itinerant Junkers who comb the field looking for scrap and parts.
Pittsburgh Debris Field
Location: F/3
A cloud of abandoned ships, parts, and other scrap pulled into the planet Pittsburgh's gravity well from the Baltimore Shipyard over the centuries. The Pittsburgh Debris Field is frequently used as cover by Rogues who like to attack traffic in and out of Pittsburgh.
Mineable Commodities
Scrap Metal
Location: F/3 Location: F/3 Location: C/5 Location: C/5 Location: C/3
The rapid industrialization that followed the settlement of the Sirius Sector has resulted in large fields of Scrap Metal, the detritus resulting from extensive manufacturing and mining operations. These debris fields present both a navigational hazard and a potential second-stage resource, so a small cottage industry has sprung up among those who collect scrap metal and resell it at smelting plants. }}
