Synopsis
The Gallic Junkers are a part of the Junker faction that remains unaffected by the structural changes within the Sirius Junkers' chain of command. While in Sirius many of the commanding Junkers who were aware of the Gallic connection of the faction were removed from their command duties, the Gallic Junkers mostly retain their former leadership. However, the faction is no longer of much use to the Gallic Navy and other lawful forces, since their role in Sirius espionage is now over. Gallic Junkers are now facing a complicated challenge of facing the future without Gallia government support. They are not trusted by pirates and other unlawfuls within Gallia, and have been exposed as spies and traitors in Sirius. Yet, the Gallic Junkers are a numerous and wealthy group, and have a powerful lobby with the governors' administrations in several systems of Gallia. There is no doubt that the faction will continue to run and perhaps even expand into Sirius, acting as traders and smugglers across Gallic controlled Sirius and beyond.
History
Since there were populated planets and the trash around them, there were always Junkers - they looked for scrap, re-used it and sold it on one of the numerous black markets of Sirius. Due to their activity, they were always close to other inhabitants of the asteroid fields - pirates, hermits and other people hiding from publicity or the law.
Because of this, none of the governments like the Junkers - but the debris fields are growing, and there is no one to collect them, so they had to live with them. Over the centuries, a never-told, but strict rule controls the relation of the government and the Junkers - don't bother us, and we won't bother you.
Due to this low level of cultural tolerance, the Gallic Crown decided to take advantage of it and send them to the other houses as spies. For centuries the Junkers loyal to the Crown reported on technology, populations, and relations between the various houses of Sirius. In Gallia itself this elevated Junkers to a higher, fully lawful status. At least until their usefulness came to an end...
