Aland Shipyard

Operation Chrysalis was a hostile attack from Bretonia against the IMG to get in control over Omega-3 and Aland Shipyard.

Prehistory

In the prevoius last years Bretonia has been in war with Kusari first, and Gallia second. The Second Tau War was still running and the Gallic Royal Navy were standing in Bretonia's heart at New London. In November 825 AS Gallia captured Southampton Shipyard; Bretonia's most importend shipyard for military warships of any size. Before that Bretonia lost Leeds to the royals and had million of Refugees who needed a new home far from the war border. So Bretonia settled them on Planet Sprague at Omega-3. Later the system was even more developed by Bretonia and by time it became more and more a new Bretonian Core system. After Southampton's fall Bretonia was in need for a new shipyard. The war was still running so there was no time to build one so they offerd IMG to rent Aland until the war ends. But the IMG was seeing a Gallic victory as an inevitability, so they resist. Other factions like ALG or the Hessians claimed to help the IMG in case of a conflict so the IMG felt safe. After 3 weeks the [Bretonia Armed Forces]] started the assault.

The Battle

In fact, the guild was supported by them, but not to the extent expected. Especailly the Battleship Kassel didn't take place in battle as the Hessians attacked the colony on Sparque before where they faced the Norfolk's fleet and were beaten. So the IMG and it's few helpers were totaly outnumner. About 2/3 of Bretonia's warships reached Aland soon; including five of the six Clydesdale freighters packed with Bretonian fireteams. These teams filled the station with sleep gas and captured the station in less than 5 minutes. While that the allied Capital Ships were focused by the Norfolk's fleet. The leading ships - Olympia and Andaman - were both critically damaged. The Olympia's crew surrenders and are now prisoners in Bretonia.

Wreck of many Guild, Hessian and Crayterian ships collected by BMM after the Battle. The Andaman is one of them.

After the battle has ended Bretonia offical annexed the system and renamed it -along with Sparque- to Nottingham. Soon BMM - new owner of Aland - started with the production of new warships for Bretonia. The first Fortitude Battlecruiser was built here. Now there is no debt on Bretonia claim for Nottingham anymore.
On the other Hand the IMG lost it's main operation centre outside of the Taus. Together with Freeport 4 and Cardiff Mining Facility, the guild has lost its most important bases and thus its influence in the region of the Omegas. The guild still has the young Madeira Base and the heavily monitored Freital Base, but it is extremely questionable whether this can maintain its position and importance without a strong shipyard far away from the actual guild centers like Java Station and Singapore Shipyard.

For all other smaller factions in the area, such as the Zoners on Freeport 1, this was a clear warning. The great powers such as the Coalition or Rheinland viewed this drastic step Bretonia with suspicion. An aggressive expansion of Bretonia in Omegas is not in the interest of this faction and it is questionable how much Bretonia can afford to have before its aggressive expansion calls for another great war in Sirius.
