History
The Deterrence, also referred to as DTR (Ravenna Nagash's chosen), are a quasi-military faction operating from the remote Edge Worlds of Sirius. Originating from Planet Crete in Omicron Gamma - they have quickly risen to be a powerful organization in their own right. Following the teachings and guidance of their enigmatic leader, the group now holds a significant military presence and commands a large fleet of sizable power.
A Humble Beginning
Despite the successes of the past and its rich history, the Corsair empire's decadence and complacency proved difficult to stop. Even with the ultimatum given by the Elders in 828 AS, stalemates continued to be the norm. Embroiled in internal fighting between factions and multiple visions for what needs to be done - Corsair society was dangerously fractured. While mobilization and hard labor were the new status quo, it did not yield a focused approach to domestic and external issues. This lack of resolution on so many fronts led to the contentious point of how effective, the leadership of the existing government really was. A particular zeal stirred in the youth, hungry for a meaningful change and opportunities. Intelligence suggests that Deterrence sought to fill in this particular void - many of its members being social and cultural ideologists, or revolutionaries.
Little information is presently known about the young Executor controlling this force. Other than her name and origin, details on her ultimate goal and purpose are scarce. It can be inferred from her manners and speech, that she has spent some part of her life in House space, potentially receiving education and military training. This would seem to account for the woman's tactical ability, shrewd diplomatic skills, and her charismatic presence. One thing is clear - a new Corsair vision for the future is at the core of her resolution. The Deterrence, also referred to as DTR (Ravenna Nagash's Chosen), are a quasi-military faction operating from the remote Edge Worlds of Sirius. Originating from Planet Crete in Omicron Gamma - they have quickly rose to be a powerful organization in their own right. Following the teachings and guidance of their enigmatic leader, the group now holds a significant military presence and commands a large fleet of sizable power.
The records are quiet in terms of her initial rise to power. There's a gap between her time spent in the venerable houses and her return to the Omicrons. All family members or siblings are listed as KIA. Initial assessments allege that Nagash must have done some freelancing operations in order to amass the necessary resources to start out and fund her fledging crew before returning home. Whatever the case may be, she seems to have swayed a large number of the younger, disenfranchised Corsairs to her cause. Promising political and social change, Ravenna Nagash has driven many of her brothers and sisters to seek a new freedom and an enlightened vision. Challenging the status quo, the old decadent order, and a promising future for all seems to be at the core front of her ideological views. A renewed nationalistic drive has engulfed and revitalized the Corsairs, who have began to abandon old strives and tribalism, uniting under her banner to fight their enemies.
A detailed study into her past and missing period can prove useful to discover some vulnerabilities.
Economy
It is clear that the DTR operates on various fronts as the creation of their fleet requires a substantial amount of resources. The faction seems to engage in generally anything profitable - their operatives have been reported to participate in smuggling and trading. Numerous scouts have documented new mining operations as well as the excavation of rare and rich ores located on remote border worlds. Raiding known House space seems to be on the mind of the young Ravenna Nagash - in a typical fashion for any Corsair, their fleet has been reported to have visited many agriculturally diverse worlds. Among the reported locations - Bretonia, Rheinland, and the Sigmas have all seen some new Corsair activity.
Diversification of assets and compound interest are said to be the old world's wonders. Lessons that DTR seems to have adopted and taken to heart. House intelligence have reported that the DTR seems to have made a number of treaties with various interest groups - from enemies, to unlikely compatriots to rekindling old bonds. Executor Nagash has quickly reconnected with the traditional allies of the Corsairs, the Hogosha - highly likely in order to promote and continue exporting the highly valuable Xeno Relics. This could explain the quick military expansion of Deterrence, which have seen increased ship production and capital vessel deployment. Recent reports have seen an increase in smuggling artifacts and Hogosha ships have been spotted in Liberty by a few interested parties.
The latest intel confirms with significant levels of accuracy that the DTR has managed to secure a base somewhere in Omicron Xi and has extended an offer for extended trade to various factions including the Junkers, as well as other black market supplies.
Tensions with the Zoners seem to be a thing of the past. Intelligence reports that a number of Zoners have supported Corsair efforts in terms of biodiversity and food supplies. A hungry nation cannot fight well - a basic principle to remember. Operatives have discovered evidence that the young Executor has harnessed the power of biodomes and has begun stockpiling food and supplies to preserve the integrity of her people. A sustained approach in terms of obtaining all necessary requirements for long-term engagements have been cultivated both diplomatically and economically. This collaboration between Corsairs and Zoners has led to the prosperity of both people.
With basic resources secured, Ravenna's Chosen have laid a solid foundation to move forward. The massive trade of Xeno Relics via their Hogosha partners means renewed prosperity and further financial stability down the line. The resolute Executor seems hell-bent on securing more contracts and alliances in her journey to preserve and elevate her people.
A number of key economic figures and conclaves across Sirius have also noticed large sums being moved into accounts outside of House space. Critical financial advisors have wrote academic studies indicating that funds are leaving to the fringe words of Sirius to back up restoration projects that end up being just a front and leading to potential Corsair origins. This would suggest that there's a number of legitimate businesses across House space potentially supporting Nagash's vision. Corporate attachés have refused to comment on this topic. Whatever the true nature of this correlation is, it would seem that the Executor has internal house backing in various sectors.
Intelligence further suggests that DTR seem to have at least one contact in their organization deeply involved in the shipping and export of extremely experimental weaponry. The potential profits if true could be substantial.
Military
The Deterrence's Fleet is likely to operate predominantly in the outskirts and edges of Sirius - Omicron and Omega Edge Worlds, but they have been sighted as far as Kusari. Some things never change and the organization seems to have been engulfed in a war with the Outcasts over the domination of the Omicron Edge Worlds.
Intelligence indicates that the bulk of their forces are made of young inexperienced Corsairs and not many veterans have yet joined the ranks. This has not deterred Executor Ravenna Nagash, who has adopted a baptism by fire policy. Operatives suggests there might be an ulterior motive to her initial raids - records allude that all the corsairs that perished in such initial fights seem to be more fringe on the political spectrum. Preliminary analysis suggests that Nagash might be cleaning house - sending those not devotedly loyal to her to their deaths. At the same time, she has provided a much needed battle experience to her faithful followers which have been bloodied in the process. This shrewd Machiavellian way of thinking has removed the Executor from any strong domestic opposition, while making her own devotees stronger.
Nevertheless, Omicron Gamma is still not united completely. If Nagash seeks to claim the title of a de-facto single leader of the Corsairs, she would still need to unite some of the left-over veterans clinging to old tribal or sub-faction identities.
At the same time, for her foreign ventures to have any effect, the Executor would need to further increase the combat effectiveness of her troops. While raids in Bretonia have been successful in claiming resources, any serious engagement with Bretonia Armed Forces have proven to be without success so far. Battle-hardened from the war with Gallia, BAF has routed any skirmishes in their territory for the moment.
Similarly, the Outcasts continue to be a significant danger. Despite initial victories against their fleet, Ravenna's plans to expand on the Xeno Relics market and to establish a permanent outpost in Xi were met with a temporary set-back. Forced to deal with both Rheinland Military and Malta's Hyperspace Starfleet, left the Executor's forces spread too thin. The station was destroyed as a result of an on-going siege from the outcast troops. This initial set-back did not deter Nagash's resolve but only bolstered her political ideology and her expansion into Omicron Xi and beyond. Data on the second installation is slim, but it's safe to say that it's likely better hidden and the defenses have been increased.
Tactical analysis of the strategies used by the Deterrence's fleet suggest that the Executor relies heavily on force concentration as prevailing method - utilizing their greater numbers to compensate for their inexperience. Intelligence suggests Ravenna Nagash will continue to use the size of her fleet to her advantage until her followers have acquired the necessary battle experience. Overwhelming the enemy whenever they can, retreating when on equal odds seems to be the modus operandi. Despite this tactic, recent reports however suggest the Executor has taken every step possible to facilitate and increase her fleet's combat effectiveness and experience.
Relations
While DTR's hold on Corsair space is significant, the organization seems to have a respectful approach and attitude towards other internal factions. History is built upon the sacrifices of those before us - seems to be the operational model of DTR's de-facto leader. Rumors circulate around the edge worlds that while some other internal factions remain, they are few and they've begun to coordinate with Deterrence.
Intelligence reports on external DTR relations is scarce. Nevertheless, it is clear Ravenna Nagash has proven to be an apt negotiator and a solid diplomat. Relations between the Hogosha and Cryer Pharmaceuticals have been rekindled and are stronger than ever. Various interest groups have also backed up Deterrence in the pursuit of Xeno Relics, profitable ores, and other resources available at the edges of space. A number of collectors have expressed interest in experimental technologies - how and why the Executor has obtained such weaponry remains a closely guarded secret.
Previous tensions between Zoners are a thing of the past. A number of ships of Zoner origin has been seen entering and leaving Corsair space. A strong connection can be made to correlate for the recent increase in agricultural resources and hydroponics.
Operatives have suggested the existence of a new found understanding between DTR and The Order. Details are next to none, but scouts report to have seen Corsair and Order ships flying together for an unknown purpose. Communications intercepted seem to point to a potential connection with the Sirius Coalition Revolutionary Army. Rumors have circulated as of late that there's a deal in the making with the Crayter Republic. Whatever the case may be, it seems that Ravenna Nagash is busy finding like-minded individuals across Sirius for some unknown purpose.
If this theory proves to be correct, it would seem that the Executor is committed to securing her boarders against any potential incursions.
With DTR and Ravenna Nagash being Corsair of origin, it is safe to assume that their traditional enemies have not changed. Military scouts have already seen DTR vessels engaging Outcasts, BAF, RM, as well as The Core.
Historically, it is unlikely for this trend to change and the conflict will only deepen for all sides involved, analysts predict.
Hierarchy
Little is known about the inner workings of the organization. Ravenna Nagash's hold hierarchically is clear and undisputed as the de-facto singular decision-making entity. Operatives have postulated that for the organization of this size to work, there must be clear stakeholders acting in her stead for various projects. Intelligence speculates on the following identities that seem to come up any time DTR are involved.
Dániel Lopez - rumored to have been with the Executor from the very start, he seems to be a high ranking official and a trusted friend of Ravenna Nagash. Analysis suggests that his assassination would put a severe strain and emotional pressure on the young leader. Alternatively, intelligence suggests kidnapping him would prove instrumental in leveraging and subverting DTR's focus. Formidable in operating capital ships.
Lucah Samaras - a key name that always re-surfaces as far as logistics are involved. He seems to be involved heavily in any attempts of DTR to create a foothold into Xi. Rumored to be the main contributor for focusing DTR's efforts into creating a Xeno Relic's monopoly. If the organization is going to make a second attempt at a permanent outpost in Xi, this man is likely to spearhead the project. Excellent logistics and supply skills.
Eros Galanis - reported to be considered Ravenna Nagash's left hand. While initially part of the first recruitment drives, Eros seems to have become the de-facto special projects lead. He seems to be involved in a variety of operational tasks including setting up proper communication channels with various foreign entities and organizations. Superb aptitude with electronics and setting up networks.
Eduardo Nieves - operatives indicate this man seems to be the most combat experienced member of the DTR. If he can be bought or eliminated, it would cripple the DTR's military readiness. The latest reports suggest he is in charge of increasing fleet effectiveness and training of new personnel. Extremely dangerous, both in a person and while flying a heavy fighter.
Acacia Sideris - a number of mentions come for one Acacia - the name pings multiple known aliases. It's clear that she is the main focal point in terms of obtaining new recruits. Her orator skills and pleasant nature seem to predispose many to listen to her. Loyal to Ravenna Nagash, it seems that Acacia believes firmly in DTR's ideologies. Adept communicator and likely the to-go person for on-boarding fresh meat into the regular outfit.
The above individuals seem to have formed a cabal, making decisions whenever the Executor is unable to do so. Each seems to spearhead a specific area of the organization's development. Purportedly, they assist with coordinating and focusing the so-called Vanguard - soldiers or contacts of the DTR that have proven their allegiance. It is unknown what the relationship between each is currently. Intelligence suggests that a likely angle to disrupt the DTR's operation would be to cause a rift between them. At this stage, each is a pillar from which Deterrence's influence and goals are increased and achieved.
At least two more individuals that are unknown at this time significantly support Ravenna Nagash in terms of operations. Intelligence suggests there's a high profile contact for experimental weaponry that funds the organization tremendously. Operatives have also confirmed the existence of a collaborator that seems to provide internal information and detailed reports on various enemies of the DTR.
