Class 8 Guns are used with Fighters and Freighters. Some of the Light Fighters and Heavy Fighters in the Discovery mod have class-8 hard-points that cannot use heavier equipment. These weapons can also be useful for managing energy consumption.

Some of the Capital Ship Forward Guns are also Class 8 Guns. It is technically possible to mount those weapons on a fighter or a freighter, however those ships cannnot produce enough power to fire the guns.
