AC was a longtime pirate and smuggler. On one occasion while smuggling artifacts from Planet Crete in Omicron Gamma to the New York system, he was suddenly surrounded by a large group of LSF agents in the Texas system. Liberty had apparently been watching him for several months now and had just begun cracking down on the illegal artifacts trade. Vastly outnumbered and stuck he had no choice but to give himself up. Judgement was handed down swift and hard, he was sentenced to 6 years in the Sugarland prison.

Having nothing but time in his possession, AC did nothing but think about his past, his present, and of course his future. Did he really want to return to the shadows of crime? Did he want to continue to have nothing, to feel nothing? His final conclusion was undeniably, "No". From that moment on he made a conscious decision to better himself. He began reading everything he could including many business based publications. When the 6 years of absolute hell was finally over, he quickly reacquired his hidden credits from his previous life and bought himself a small freighter ship. After a lot of hard work he was able to upgrade his ship.

After some time of trading alone, he hired many of his old fellow ex-cons to help in his endeavours. Eventually he had a decent sized fleet and decided to give it a name; Independent Express. He used this company to give the ex-scum of the galaxy a second chance at life, just like he had given himself. The company grew exponentially and eventually Republican Shipping decided to purchase this little upstart company, hence RepEx was born.

Unfortunately Mr. Cummings could not keep his greed in check and after successfully leading RepEx for months he was indited, charged, and convicted of numerous crimes, including smuggling, bribery, and insider trading.

RepEx ceased to be an independent company underneath Republican Shipping, and was transformed into the bulk of Republican's shipping arm when it was brought back under the Board of Directors. Michael Richter will lead the company in a tenfold growth of profits and reputation.
