Ore is a collective term for all commodities that can be mined. All you need to mine ore is a mining laser and an asteroid or debris field that drops ore, but this way of mining is costly in terms of time. If you want to mine efficiently you need to have a mining ship, a special IFF and a matching ID, and astroid field that drops sufficiently large amounts of ore per asteroid. Furthermore you'll need the aforementioned mining turrets, which are rather weak in combat (see also Mineable Commodities). The problem with ore is that you'll always need a lot of time or another skilled player to mine for you. Normally these miners are rare to find and not cheap. They usually want about 25% from the sell price per unit at the best sale point. These places are often far away, or on the other side of a war zone, like the Taus, so the trader hauling the ore will often have quite a bit of work to do to get the last 75% out of that deal.

Ore is one of the most profitable commodities for lawful traders to carry. Normal sale prices are about 10000 credits per unit, they only take up one unit of cargo space, and no house currently restricts the trade of ore. This adds up to make ore one of the most interesting commodities for traders to carry.

* The system of Leeds is an Bretonian system that was recently lost to the Kingdom of Gallia. Before that BMM was the main mining faction in Leeds. Gallic Metal Service has largely taken over the BMM's operations in the system after it was occupied by the Gallic Royal Navy.

** Humboldt is an "unlawful" system under Liberty Rogue control without any significant lawful mining operations.

*** The mining place for Raw Hydrocarbons in Ile-de-France is much better than the one in Manchester, but the distance between these systems is very big and especially Gallic lawful traders often use it, but they have got many problems.

**** Omega-3 is not really a Bretonian system, but it is part of Bretonia's zone of influence and even settled by Bretonians. All other stations in Bretonia only give $250 per unit.
