Short summary

The Omega Pirates Guild. The name speaks for itself, the OPG were Corsair pirates. They owned and operated out of the Omegas, in particular Omega 41 and Omega 5. Originating from Cadiz base, the OPG grew to become one of the prime Corsair factions before their downfall. The OPG funded itself by pirating traders in the Omegas, Sigmas, Bretonia and Rheinland, funding a large fleet of Artifact smugglers and running protection rackets.

The Guild has officially been declared defunct by it's own leadership as of Late 817 A.S.

History

The OPG started as a small band of pirates. Gentle, found the Corsair pirates to be a disorganized rowdy bunch, that achieved very little. They didn't cooperate effectively among themselves, were easily overrun by House authorities, and very little of the spoils reached any Corsairs at Crete.

Gentle was disgusted, and started to recruit pirates and OPG gained it's first members. Most of the pirates joined eagerly, and a few of the more stubborn pirates were forced into submission. The backbone of the Guild was formed of some of the most ruthless and toughest pirates among the Corsairs. As news spread of the success rates of OPG raids on Crete, the youth of Crete were standing in lines to join and have their share of the adventure and spoils.

As the number of OPG pirates grew, so did their influence. Rather than being focused solely in piracy, OPG expanded and ships were increasingly deployed in fleet operations. They quickly became the mainstay fleet of the Omegas, holding the lines against the Hessians and Mollies. As the Brotherhood weakened, the OPG grew in it's place, and took over main Corsair operations. After various power struggles, gathering strength through negotiation or brute force, the Guild now stands as one of the biggest criminal groups in Sirius.

As the OPG grew in size, Gentle picked out one of the outstanding pirates he could trust and made him his right hand man, the Overpirate. Together the OPG's coffers grew even fatter, funds from traders. Some were caught in space, and 'donated' kindly under threat of violence and others decided it was easier to pay a periodical sum for OPG 'protection'.

The OTC, Omega Trade Corporation was formed soon after the OPG gained a foothold amongst the Corsairs. Hiring Junkers and Corsairs, a fleet of various ships, trains, pirate transports, pirate trains, and whales was formed, with the sole purpose of providing income for the OPG through smuggling Artifacts, and bringing back resources that the Corsairs needed.

The OPG held seats in the Corsair Council, sharing governance over the Corsairs together with the Brotherhood and the Benitez and count them as blood brothers. The relationship was so strong that nothing could sway Gentle from his brethrens' side.

Toward the end of their reign, the OPG set it's eyes on Bretonia. Envying, Cambridge's abundance of food, while the Corsair people starved. Corsair raids into Bretonia increased, spearheaded by the OPG and relations with Bretonia had worsened ever since.

Formerly, the OPG are some of the most feared pirates in Sirius. Brutal and effective tactics made the OPG feared among traders.

However, as of 817 A.S. the Gentle's madness and departure, and subsequent power vacuum left the OPG fragmented and incoherent. In late 817, the ranking OPG warlords officially announced the guild's disbandment, and most of it's members went independent or joined other Corsair subgroups.

The Black Sails can be considered a direct descendant of the OPG, created by ex-OPG warlords and members, carrying on the Piratic tradition. The fate of the OTC as a separate entity is currently unknown and uncertain.

Hierarchy

Rank Description

Pirate King

The Pirate King was the highest ranking in the [OPG], all others answered to him.

Overpirates

Overpirates acted as Pirate King's most trusted pilots, advisers and associates. They were there to rule with him but stay below him and ran everyday OPG operations.

Scourge

Scourges were selected for their leadership and ruthlessness. They made sure the will of the OPG are realised. Scourges made diplomatic decisions and are also in charge of guiding new members. Scourges are allowed to fly all shipclasses.

Scourge’s Mate

Scourge’s Mates mostly worked together with their Scourge. Both scout for possible new recruits and if they see potential, they’d guide them through the process of becoming a true OPG-member. Usually the scourge’s mates wern’t in direct contact with the Pirate king or Overpirate. Communication goes via the scourge, who would then inform the higher ups. Scourges Mates were allowed to fly Cruiser class ships and below.

Marauder

Marauders were established OPG members who had proven to be loyal. They were mainly the brute manpower needed in all kinds of situations. Marauders answered to both scourges and scourge’s mates. Communication with the higher ups would go via these as well. Marauders were allowed to fly fighters, bombers and gunboats

Dock Rat

Any fresh recruit taking their arms and enlisting to the guild would start here. Dock Rats were still wet behind the ears when it comes to OPG fighting skills, piracy skills or smuggling skills. They were taken by Scourges, Scourge's mates or Marauders themselves and trained until they understood the basics of what every Corsair is. This is the most important period for the new recruit, as his first week is usually "do or die" while senior members of OPG discover what's he made of. Ofcourse, any proud son of a Corsair should have nothing to fear because OPG stands for things every Corsair has in their blood. Rats just needed two slaps across the face to wake that blood up.

The Omega Pirates Guild has his own fleet of capital ships. None of the OPG-members are allowed to fly their own capital ships under the OPG flag.

Recruiting process.

  • Rats must follow the procedure listed in the OPG Recruiting post.
  • The recruitment of new members is limited Scourge rank or above.
  • Lower ranked members may report potential recruits to a Scourge or higher for consideration.
  • After player is recruited and granted his OPG - Rat title, he will use his account on forums and find the post titled "OPG" under Message dumps, where he will make a post, welcoming himself into Omega Pirates Guild, and write something about his pilot. Yes, you will. Or we'll shoot you down and pirate your alts.

Notes:

  • We require player to understand and type (at least semi accurately) the English language. Although we understand that this might be somewhat discriminatory, we fear that we must all understand each other. Knowledge of the English language is a must.
  • Player must possess a good knowledge of most, if not all rules of the server. We are not a learning school, and we are not there to teach you from scratch. We are here to mold you into perfection, and that can only be achieved by you showing some initiative.
  • All our members participate in Discovery server forums. A forum account is mandatory. If you are just there to PvP and be left alone, try some factions that suck.

Rank Process.

  • Any new player who is new to the server, and doesn't have a firm grasp of roleplaying will start off with the Dock Rat [OPG-Rat] rank.
  • Once a Scourge's Mate witnesses, or receives evidence showing the Dock Rat is able to roleplay an OPG sufficiently, he informs a Scourge, who makes the promotion to Marauder official.
  • As specified above, Dock Rats may not use gunboats.
