The Kusari Naval Forces embody the spirit and passion of the Kusari emperor, their living god. They enable his will as poetry in the stars.
Their traditions span the millenia and date back to old earth that was, when their ancestors lived as samurai.
History

The Kusari Naval Forces player faction was founded around 2006 by Akira (Sensou) and Harlequinn (DeLuna). After some time during that same year the former leader lost interest in the faction but refused to hand over the keys to another player to ensure continuation of the player faction and was subject to a coup d'etat by Nadir (Nadir) supported by the rest of the faction, included Harlequinn. A new forum board was created by Nadir. At this time LoTeK_ (Hikaru Sulu) was amongst the newest players and was recruited into the faction.
Under Nadir wise guidance the Kusari Naval Forces were very much alive during the following year but at some point Nadir wished to step aside for personal reasons and passed the keys to Yngen (Nebotuda) who then passed them over again to The Fool/Malaclypse (Chijin) after some time before leaving for personal reasons. Despite the extra ordinary performance and dedication to the faction of these three players none of them was wishing to permanently keep the command.
By 2007/8? LoTeK_ was a ranked officer and very dedicated to the Kusari Naval Forces. The Fool/Malaclypse was also involved in other projects and decided to transfer the command of the player faction to LoTeK_, degrading himself to Chujo (vice-admiral) so to be still able to provide help and support to the new leader, still very inexperienced.
During 2008/9? The Fool/Malaclypse retired from the Kusari Naval Forces so to be able to entirely dedicate himself on his other projects. The now vacant Chujo seat was left empty for several months to be recently claimed by Casero.

Home system: Hiroshima. While the Emperor resides in his castle on New Tokyo, his guardians watch over the Blue Lagoon from Hiroshima-having Honshu and New Tokyo both within arms' reach. Being a high security military restricted system Hiroshima is heavily defended by Naval Forces Guards and is considered inviolable space to all except Naval Forces, Samura Industries, State Police and Kishiro Technologies vessels. It is known the High Command rarely granted this privilege, providing a license, even to some civillian vessels under particular circumstances.

KNF projects itself across Kusari; from Honshu to Tau-31 and from Hokkaido to Kepler, Galileo and Sigma-13.
In the western front the furthest KNF base is the Battleship Nagumo in Kyushu, however due to Imperial reaction to defend from the agressive Bretonian Armed Forces, the Kusari Naval Forces Battleship Nagasaki has been deployed near Holman Outpost in Tau-31. From this forward base the KNF ensure the Taus remain the fertile garden of Kusari that it always has been. Outcasts and Bretonians are dispatched with much zeal by our brave warriors in these sectors.
Expeditionary Interests
Expeditionary interests War supply routes take Naval forces abroad through the Bretonian border worlds to Omega-49. The revolutionary scum residing in Chugoku can expect visits from the KNF as a matter of course. Tau-23 will also remain on the Emperor's agenda, where the KNF strike at the BMM base there. Anywhere there is Bretonian shipping interest, the KNF will disrupt it.
Special wings
The Kusari Naval Forces Exploration wing was created on the 8.3, 817 A.S by Chusa Yoshi Sabayai. The primary objective or role of the wing is to conduct expeditions and missions to improve and expand "Kusari's Horizons". The work of the KNF-E not only benefits the immediate KNF but also the Kusari people. Official documentation here.
The Kusari Naval Forces Katana Wing was introduced for the first time by Commodore Relden Mori as a defensive wing to help keep Kusari Space safe. With the retirement of Commodore Relden Mori and the recently developed Kusari bomber, the Katana Wing was absorbed by KNF and reviewed by Taishō Hikaru Sulu to became an elite well-trained, fast and deadly anti capital ship wing. Pilots in the KNF-K are strictly selected, subject to a very intense training and receive their medal directly from the Emperor himself.
