21-OCT-833

Cardamine, Bribery and Theft.

My patrol commenced as soon as I launched from the Norfolk Shipyard. New York and Pennsylvania were already under the protection of active Police and Navy patrols, ensuring system security, so I proceeded through the trade lane to the Texas system. Upon reaching Texas, I carried out a thorough patrol along the trade lanes, starting with a sweep towards Planet Houston, followed by the Hudson jump gate. Finding no signs of illicit activities around the distant gate, I decided to return to Denver.

Upon my return to Denver, my attention was drawn to a suspicious transport vessel making its way from the Bering jump gate towards Houston without utilizing the trade lanes. I initiated a closer inspection and, as I closed the distance, the vessel's captain abruptly altered the course of their cargo hauler, steering it toward the Bering gate. Despite multiple attempts to communicate and halt the vessel, they continued evading my instructions until I intercepted them post-jump in Bering itself.

With the captain now complying, I proceeded to scan the vessel, which revealed the transportation of 4,300 units of Cardamine into Liberty. The captain then attempted to bribe me with an offer of 200,000 credits. My response to the bribe was a steadfast declination, prompting the captain to make an escape attempt. Recognizing the need for reinforcements, I issued a distress signal. A heavy ordinance response from the 5th Fleet arrived to assist, forcing the border worlds transport to seek refuge at a station beyond our jurisdiction.

"Premium.Schaumkraut" has broken the following laws of Liberty:

1.1 - Contraband commodities.
- Cardamine products.
5 - Obstructing justice.
- Fleeing from an officer when ordered to stop via verbal command or cruise disruptor.
- Other attempts to protect or hide criminals or evidence from Liberty Forces.

The second part of this report concerns a Freelancer pilot operating a stolen Defender.

Following the resolution of the border worlds transport incident, we were en route to New York. However, our journey was interrupted by the sighting of a Freelancer defender near the battleship Arkansas. The pilot was approached by the accompanying 5th Fleet pilot, Nazawo Ayato, who inquired about the origins of the fighter craft.

The suspect who went by the callsign "Antidote" claimed ownership of the fighter craft. However, the name they provided was not found in the registry. A request for confirmation led to an inconsistent response from the pilot, who subsequently attempted to flee, sparking a short-lived pursuit. After covering a distance of no more than 10 klicks, the fighter pilot's flight or fight response changed. He engaged me in a duel, and while the pilot displayed commendable combat skills, the engagement ultimately concluded with their defeat. Following the confrontation, I returned to Norfolk shipyard for necessary repairs.

"Antidote" has broken the following laws of Liberty:

4.1 - Restricted Equipment.
- Possession of Black Market technology or equipment of any sorts is restricted.
- Possession of Liberty Navy technology is restricted. This includes, but is not limited to "Liberator", "Executioner", "Guardian", "Avenger" snubcrafts, "Defiant" gunboat, "Magma Hammer" and "Vengeance" series weaponry, etc.

This concludes my report of this successful combat patrol.

Commander Marcus Carter, reporting in.

My report today concerns Operation Orange Juice, specifically the Pennsylvania system blockade that occurred on October 22, 833 A. S.

LNS Boston moved to the Kansas Jump hole as ordered to prevent any attempt to smuggle Cardamine into Liberty territory. Not long after our arrival, we encountered an Outcast heavy transport with the ID code "Dune-maker" carrying a significant amount of Cardamine in its cargo hold. As instructed by the Admiralty, we called for the vessel in question to stop and surrender the illegal cargo. This call was not heeded by the vessel concerned, instead the pilot of the transport attempted to make a deal with us to retain the illegal cargo and pay a fine. As soon as we refused this offer, the vessel in question took off. Before we could ready our weapons in time, the enemy transport managed to jump back into Kansas, where we had not pursued it. Although we did not succeed in destroying the transport in question, we can be glad that we successfully prevented it from bringing the illegal cargo to its destination.

Not long after the incident at the Kansas Jump hole, we joined the ships guarding the New York Jump gate as ordered. The heavy traffic in the area made our task somewhat difficult, but we still managed to intercept another transport with illicit cargo, this time a vessel with the ID code "STARFIELD_Transport". The pilot of the vessel in question was asked several times to surrender his cargo, but the pilot refused and tried to bribe me and the assisting cruiser LNS Arctic to let him through. After another disobeyed call, I gave the order to open fire on the enemy vessel. However, after the first salvo a Rogue gunboat appeared near the gate, LNS Arctic decided to pursue the gunboat. Meanwhile, the enemy transport jumped into the New York system, where I managed to catch up with it and destroy it and its cargo.

That is all. Carter out.

Good evening.

Today whilst patrolling the lanes near West Point Military Academy, I stumbled across two Coalition gunboats. They were supposedly on some kind of reconnaissance mission looking for a particular individual. Not having the firepower at my disposal at the time to deal with these two, I instructed them to move along and not to harass any civilians in the area. While initially hostile to my suggestions, one of the gunboats even firing in my direction, they did eventually move along into the Jersey Debris Field.

I would therefore like to post a notice to be on the lookout for not only these two gunboats in question, the CPW-Tashkent and the CPW-Okhotnik, but also for the individual they are looking for, one "Anna Tsoi". They may have the answer as to why these two gunboats incurred on Liberty Space in this manner.

Currently I believe the threat posed by these two gunboats to be minimal.

That is all,

Captain Burnet,
Liberty Navy First Fleet.

LIBERTY NAVY PATROL REPORT

Ensign Darren Barnes

DEPARTMENT RECEIVING: LIBERTY NAVY PATROL ARCHIVE

-- Begin Report --

Below details the patrol report concerning ENS. D BARNES in Zone 21 as part of assigned patrol.

Based out of Chadwick station, a routine check was performed of the Norfolk Shipyard areas and West Point Academy. Civilian traffic was low, routine scans were performed but turned up nothing of interest. Patrol then moved back to monitor the area Zone 21 and conduct routine inspection of weapons platforms in the vicinity of the Alaska Jump Gate. Weapon Platforms checked out OK and no unauthorized traffic was encountered in the vicinity.

Patrol Flight then moved on to second sweep, inside of the Alaska system and the navigation corridors. Encountered issues with outdated NavCom system data, and was required to make new mapping of minefield passages via beacons located in these passages. Encountered a single mine that had drifted from it's anchoring in one of these passages in Sector E7, it was destroyed as per protocol to ensure no damage to Liberty assets using this route. No substantial debris was observed.

Patrol Checkpoints in the system were checked and found to be in working condition and scanners reported no anomalies. Encountered LLS-Teapot.Dome survey ship and escorted the vessel whilst it collected research data within the sector. Escort was uneventful and conducted safely, with a return passage being secured and eventually we performed an extraction via Zone 21. Escorted vessel was returned to it's mooring and routine patrol resumed.

On final leg of patrol route whilst stopping at Norfolk for refuelling, encountered LNS-Saratoga undocking from her moorings at Norfolk. Communications were exchanged, and I was able to see a brief, yet impressive, weapon test demonstration from the capital ship platform. During this time, various Freelancers were transiting the area and were routinely cargo scanned. One had Rogue pilots they had captured, and were directed by myself to drop these off at a nearby military base to be secured and the pilot rewarded. No further communications with these freelancers was received.

Liberty Navy flight then returned to Chadwick Station to finish patrol and debrief, patrol vessel required minor maintenance to fix cosmetic damage caused by light impact of space debris.

LIBERTY NAVY PATROL REPORT

DEPARTMENT RECEIVING: LIBERTY NAVY PATROL ARCHIVE

-- Begin Report --

Below details the patrol report as logged by ENS. D BARNES in New York.

Routine patrol tasking was received. Departed Chadwick Station in early hours and navigated through nearby minefield corridor. Brief stop at Norfolk Shipyard to conduct weapons maintenance and restocking, this took slightly longer than expected due to unfamiliarity with the new Bombers we had been issued. All checks came back OK, and we departed the station fully stocked within the hour. Encountered light freelance pilot traffic near Norfolk, but after routine communication exchange and scan, nothing eventful was noted.

Next waypoint was located near West Point Academy, took the tradelanes down to West Point and performed a racetrack pattern patrol of this sector looking for any nearby traffic to check on and/or unlawfuls. During this period, encountered an Ageira transport moving suspected rogues into West Point. Routine communications were exchanged, and the persons of interest were handed into Liberty Navy personnel at West Point Academy without issue. Ageira vessel was then last seen taking tradelane route into Badlands and contact was lost.

Looped back to Planet Manhatten and observed usual traffic, before making a brief check in at Baltimore Shipyard, which noted nothing of particular interest. Next, back to Norfolk and eventually Chadwick Station to finish the scheduled patrol route and commence debrief and sign off.

LIBERTY NAVY PATROL REPORT

Ensign Darren Barnes

DEPARTMENT RECEIVING: LIBERTY NAVY PATROL ARCHIVE

-- Begin Report --

Below details the patrol report as logged by ENS. D BARNES as part of an organized response fleet in New York sector.

Received alert whilst based at Chadwick Station regarding hostile ships located near Colorado Jump Gate sector. After completing initial ship check, I contacted the capital ships leading the response fleet and was accepted into formation to assist the fleet. Due to the urgency of the response, I was unable to verify the specific requirements of the mission, and joined formation in my assigned bomber with anti-capital loadout. This would prove to be a significant error, and would be exploited by the hostiles once the battle commenced.

Upon landing in the sector with the LNS capital ships, the scanner lit up with multiple hostile contacts in ships not commonly found in the Liberty sector. I attempted to stay close to LNS-Saratoga to provide supporting fire and prevent isolating myself with the hostiles. Eventually, this would become unfeasible as the fight turned into a mix of both capital and subcapital ships lighting up the entire sector. I had engaged two of the bandits, and an exchange of fire took place where I managed to damage the hull of both but took significant damage in the process, depleting all nanobot reserves.

This became problematic when I was singled out by a very heavy fighter belonging to one of the Rogue pilots, who focused his sights in on me and was determined not to let me finish the fight. Whilst I was able to go up against him for a while, the additional armour and firepower of his heavy fighter proved too much for my bomber-class vessel to handle. I had now suffered critical hull damage and partial breach. I attempted to lead the bandit towards LNS-Saratoga rather than try to escape the battlefield, and this would prove to ultimately be futile. The bandit was able to score a direct hit on the engine bay, which exasperated the already partially breached hull, and my bomber suffered a catastrophic explosion to the starboard side of LNS-Saratoga. I was able to eject before the remaining ammunition cooked off and catastrophically destroyed the bomber, and was able to seek rescue and was returned to Chadwick Station whilst the fight came to it's climax.

Medical examination is still underway and I am hoping for a return to duty soon, although I will be requesting a change from the bomber-class vessels back to my preferred very heavy fighter class, due to my familiarity with the latter and it's reliability in these types of situations. I am hoping both of these will be completed within the next week, bearing no unforeseen circumstances arise between now and then.

LIBERTY NAVY PATROL REPORT

Ensign Darren Barnes

DEPARTMENT RECEIVING: LIBERTY NAVY PATROL ARCHIVE

-- Begin Report --

Below details the patrol report as logged by ENS. D BARNES as part of a scheduled patrol of the Texas / New York sectors.

After the destruction of my Avenger-class bomber, running through the routine medical checks after a ship ejection sequence and the seemingly endless paperwork, I was back in action once again. However, I knew some changes had to be made in order to learn from these experiences and ensure I was more prepared for the next time trouble came into our sector. My standing orders were to report to the LNS Arkansas in the Texas system, not too far from my original base at Chadwick Station. What seemed like a routine trip soon turned out to be a much more exciting one. Upon arrival, I was instructed to speak with the commanding officer and discuss a pre-flight brief and patrol route, it was to be a standard route around Texas and New York space, with a brief stop at the California Gate to run the usual cargo scans and ID checks.

I accepted these orders without question, but I made my concerns about the Avenger-class bomber and it's suitability for my current role known. It was no secret to anyone, the C/O included, that I had many years experience with the BDR-337 "Executioner" class Heavy Fighter, before being upgraded to the BDR-845 "Avenger" when that eventually became the Navy's premier heavy fighter. I explained these concerns, and whilst I had predicted a refusal, the C/O was sympathetic to my cause and agreed that it wasn't an ideal situation. Before I could ask for further details, I was offered a partially-rebuilt Avenger that was repaired after a collision due to a Cadet completely fumbling his docking procedure with a Navy Battleship. It was in working condition with only the mismatched paintwork of the replacement wing giving any indication it wasn't fresh off the production line.

Naturally I was satisfied with this compromise. I got into the replacement fighter and it felt just like the old days, with the new avionics and upgraded systems, of course. This swap had slightly delayed my patrol start, so I needed to make up for lost time. I quickly verified we had enough fuel and weaponry, and departed the battleship for the start of the Texas leg of the patrol. Expecting the usual traffic, instead I encountered very little, so this part of the patrol was mostly unremarkable, therefore I began leg two of the patrol, straight through to Norfolk, then the usual round trip past Fort Bush, Planet Manhattan, West Point, and so on. This also lead to two waypoints contained within the Badlands, a scary though for most cadets but not one I was unfamiliar with. Even this proved to be quiet and no major incidents took place.

On the return to Fort Bush, encountered some Interspace vessel that at first I thought would be part of a shipping convoy yet turned out to be a solo pilot in a Starflier, seemingly on a repositioning flight to get to his larger vessel, routine communication and checks were performed and nothing untoward turned up. Finally, a check of the California gate sector was performed and routine traffic scanning took place without any substantial contraband found. I was hitting the end of the assigned patrol at this point, so entered the waypoints to get back to battleship Arkansas for routine debriefing.

LIBERTY NAVY PATROL REPORT

Lieutenant Darren Barnes

DEPARTMENT RECEIVING: LIBERTY NAVY PATROL ARCHIVE

-- Begin Report --

After the recent news of my promotion to Lieutenant at the usual promotion ceremony, I was more determined than ever to work for the Navy. I was glad to see that my efforts in our sectors hadn't gone unnoticed, especially in a time where the Liberty Navy is spread thinner and thinner, whilst the enemies of Liberty seem to be forever growing stronger. This did not phase me though, as I knew that we still had a good core and that would ensure the Navy wasn't going anywhere soon.

Another usual patrol route from Chadwick, not much out of the ordinary was expected as previous patrols had also turned up mostly empty handed. We began with a visit to the usual Norfolk Shipyard, before moving to West Point bordering the Badlands. We got news from West Point there were some minor reports of small convoys of hostiles operating in the area, towards the sun from West Point. I proceeded to take a flight out there to check it out, but this again turned out to be nothing more than erroneous reports. Likely from incorrect analysing by scanners on the station.

Disappointed, we moved onwards and encountered several freelancers making a stop off at Norfolk Shipyard. They appeared to be flying older vessels usually seen by Junkers, CSVs and the like, and I made routine contact with them to advise we were running some scans. They halted without issue, although did not openly respond to my acknowledgement. Nonetheless, they were deemed clear of any contraband and allowed to continue onto the Texas system unopposed. I've seen enough combat as part of the Navy these days to know when to enjoy a routine patrol when I get one, and sometimes doing the rounds and usual contraband scanning is a nice change of pace.

The return journey was slightly different. This time I wouldn't be headed back to Chadwick Station as usual and I would instead be taking up a home base at the Battleship Missouri. A minor adjustment to my duties, but I was happy to be away from the minefields for once, and being around some of the other Lieutenants who frequently based at Missouri could very well do myself some good. All in all, another patrol completed for the logbooks.

ATTN: First Fleet Reporting Office:

Admirals,

What looked to be a fairly uneventful patrol today changed almost immediately upon our unmooring from West Point. We went to head towards California, and after only a few seconds of travel down the trade lane to the gate, we detected a Corsair transport headed the other way. Quickly turning around to pursue, we managed to catch them in orbit of Houston as they attempted to flee towards Hudson. The vessels captain stated that they were attempting to flee some larger threat and for some reason felt it was a good idea to do so through Libertonian space. Feeling a bit unsettled by the potential need to simply slaughter a transport crew, regardless of their origin, I gave them the opportunity to abandon their cargo and flee our space.

The transport captain refused and then tried to bribe me. During this exchange, a LSF fighter arrived and provided some assistance. Upon refusal of the bribe, we opened fire on the transport, and only moments later two additional gunboats came out of the trade lane. One was a Liberty Rogue vessel, which almost immediately moved in to assist the transport. I'm not particularly sure why a Liberty Rogue would be interested in assisting a Corsair, but I didn't have the time to think about it at the moment.

Fortunately, the other gunboat was a 46th Fleet vessel, the LNS Kennedy which immediately moved in and engaged the Rogue. With out backs covered we quickly dispatched the transport and offered to assist the Kennedy, but they said they had it handled, which they quickly proved accurate. Upon confirmation that they were able to return to the Arkansas under their own power, we made our way to Houston to keep the mooring area clear for the repair crews to deal with the Kennedy.

Will attach relevant logs below, report concluded.
