Marines are soldiers assigned to vessels of war who are trained in amphibious assaults on planets, and ship to ship or ship to station assaults in space. The ability to board, seize, and capture other vessels or space installations provides commanders with multiple strategic options beyond the mere destruction or disablement of opposing forces.
