There is no reason to delve into sex slavery, this community isn't 18+ only so that would be the first red flag but the moment children were thrown in there you're pushing into illegality. It was not a mistake it was down-right stupidity to even consider it, the fact that is was posted defies all reason and could have led to Disco being shut down, just for the mere mentioning of it.
it wasn't pushing illegality in some regions. it was illegal. ANd this whole place would have paid the price.
Look I am 100% for free RP and imagination but this is just deranged. If anything the admins have been too light handed in dealing with this. There is ZERO reason this sort of thing should be here and the member who wrote should have a good hard look at themselves and consider some mental help.
Okay, we get it. People don't like it. There's no reason to keep dropping deuces on them, and keep trying to one-up eachother with the "oooh this is NOT OKAY!"

They got their junk deleted, that's enough.

inbafter I get crucified for this post.
We understand what the issue was and will seize all RP around this. We just want to look to the future and continue to have the good things we have had going in RP with a lot of factions that have not dwelled into the other RP that is forbidden. All in all we and I mostly apologize to the community. I have been around for many years with this community and this is my first offense as a whole. I hope this can go past us and for you to not judge our interactions in game any different. Thank you for your time.

I don't believe this is true, but skype crashes when I try to load messages that are older than a day so let me clarify that. That line was the main reason I chose Cryer ID for Wisp - because it used to allow fun gameplay and some interesting roleplay opportunities. While it still continues to provide RP opportunities, gameplay was severely hindered. And there can't be much engaging in-game roleplay without gameplay. Please understand this.

Our transport ships are still able to grind out the minimum day on the tracker by doing deliveries for forum RP projects however I believe over the months that Wisp had existed I believe I had an interesting roleplay interaction on a tradeship... twice? Maybe not even that. Many more times we received and delivered more interesting interactions while patrolling on our fighters. Again, please understand that logging to shoot Outcasts does not always result in shooting Outcasts. In fact, the majority of time it didn't. It resulted in fun RP interactions that we had with factions such as O'Rhu, IMG, Auxesia, ALG, indies and others.

I don't see how that is in any way harmful. There are many instances of official factions that do not follow what you said here, just to name a few:
- Outcasts aren't majorly religious fanatics, yet a faction pursuing that roleplay has been made official.
- Interspace Commerce aren't majorly traders, yet a faction pursuing that roleplay has been made official.
- Junkers aren't majorly pirates, yet a faction pursuing that roleplay has been made official.
- Zoners aren't majorly an organised shipping faction, yet a faction pursuing that roleplay has been made official.

And on and on it goes. I would actually argue that it's much better for the community and anyone that would desire to make a Cryer Pharmaceuticals faction in the future. Cryer is a broad church, according to it's infocard. Someone might be interested in a Cryer faction that does something else than Wisp. In fact, we even had one called Cryer Solutions which focused on trading and PoB supply, which died in about a month, quite possibly because of the fact that Cryer trading is not profitable.

Bottom line, encompassing the entire NPC faction with just one official faction is not very healthy, especially such a diverse faction as Cryer.

While Wisp itself specialises mostly in research of human-enhancement drugs and technologies, as well as microbiology, we also do absolutely archetypal Cryer stuff such as the constructions of various medical facilities (Project Sundew, Project Snowflake, Project New Life). And had Wisp actually gotten official, there would have been no problem with adapting the faction command structure to fit Cryer a bit more. I just figured that starting out a faction that already includes the Cryer CEO would be slightly powergame-y.

(04-13-2016, 04:49 AM)aerelm Wrote: [ -> ]Reasonably and logically, Cryer can and might try to do things like actively and aggressively going after Cardamine convoys and whatnot, but through a third party such as BHG or a PMC
Except we couldn't because of the blanket bounty rules - which allow only official factions to post bounties, or get them sponsored by other allied factions. Unfortunately, all factions that Wisp has close ties to already have their own blanket bounties and they cannot sponsor another one.

Of course we could ask for an allied faction such as IMG, Core or Corsairs to add a Sirius-wide contract for Outcasts and then move the entirety of the Wisp Security Division to a Freelancer ID under a new tag, but I don't really think that would be better than just returning that line to the Cryer ID.

(04-13-2016, 04:49 AM)aerelm Wrote: [ -> ]and as I've already pointed out to you, the concept of Wisp perfectly fits such a PMC but it would in no way imply Wisp represents Cryer as a faction in any form, and hence why it would not be a suitable official group representing Cryer NPC faction.
So what ideas would you have to adjust our roleplay to fit a Cryer faction and help us improve that are within the scope of bounty and server rules? If you have any, please do feel free to put them forward on PM or skype.

And additionally, what options do you think we have now? I would really like Wisp to get official because we have put a lot of work into this faction and our roleplay, so having it discarded after four months of continuous effort is genuinely discouraging from any larger projects.
Drawing a line where to stop when discussing slavery and related topics? Sure, no problem. Punishing severely those who rush past said line and submit heavily inappropriate content for display? All is fine. Doing the second before the first? A bit too overreactive. This community has been infamous for inconsequent and arbitrary rulings about what's right and what's wrong, we have swear filters in effect while we deal with alcohol, drugs, slavery, piracy, wars, etc in-game on a daily basis. Can we then reasonably expect people to use the oh-so-often referenced, but otherwise non-existent "common sense" and guess, like a mentalist, where the invisible lines of appropriateness are?

Removal of the excessively inappropriate content, a warning for the faction and some easily accessible green text clarifying a situation would have been enough. Removal of the entire work of a faction (including content previously considered appropriate enough) for something they weren't warned about beforehand is not teaching them a lesson the hard way. It's pointless destruction, and people are more likely learn about the inconsequential mercilessness of the Admin Team.

"That line was the main reason I chose Cryer ID for Wisp - because it used to allow fun gameplay and some interesting roleplay opportunities."
Did you mean the part where you ragequitted from Bloodroses because Chrono, the faction's actual leader, did not agree with you, and you made Wisp to hunt Outcasts with Cryer for revenge as this "fun gameplay and some interesting roleplay opportunities" thing?
Even though the admins did not clearly define a line that there cannot be that kind of slavery on the forums, I still wonder what went through the person's head in writing it up.
Did they give that much thought? Did they realize there were rules that were going to be broken when moving into that area?

The next thing that is really strong is that there is a difference between barely crossing the line and REALLLLY crossing it..

So yeah.... I dont think there is a excuse for not thinking it through...

I also understand the point that it was not the faction creator that posted it but rather a faction member.... apparently?
combining 'slaves' + 'sex' +'childrens" in a same post got the expected consequences ,we don't need a specific rule for that,no warning was necessary either for something as humans we should know better..
Remember how people once were discussing whether or not the community should be involved in processing sanction threads?
Well, if nothing else, this thread for the last few pages has demonstrated why this is a bad idea.

Might I suggest this thread to be nuked? It has long since lost its actual meaning and probably does not really help in any way anymore, unless the staff really want to see the reaction of the more vocal part of the community in response to every single action the staff takes.
