I witnessed this conversation and i appreciate Mal's decision.
Furthermore i took the opportunity and organised a supply run with food to Crete with a TBH escort.

Mesage reads:

Well with this new information then it would be better if we just moved to block the group of Corsairs that is causing the issue at Freeport 1. In that case I change my vote to Nay and propose that we put the ban only on the groups that are causing problems. So that would mean that the TBH be exempt from the ban. Again as Mal put it this will help us with the O-49 issue.

On behalf of my crew, I vote No to a blanket ban on Corsairs at Freeport 1. A class of ships is one thing, but a whole group is another, particularly one with which we do so much business. In addition, the problem I believe lies with only certain Corsairs, as the vast majority have never shown my crew and I anything but respect.

Even if limited only to FP1, it's far too dangerous a precedent to set.

Looking slightly disheveled and a little the worse for wear, Rashida is half-laid on a couch. She rubs her eyes and addresses the camera,

"So, da 'Sairs 'ave started talkin' to us? Ex'lent, see, jus' da response we was 'opin ta get wiv dese acshuns.

"Now, Da Bruvver'ood, as far as what evidence I can see, 'as not gotten involved in any o' dis kerfuffle at 'Port 1. As such, I see no need ta deny dem o' dis request, an' furthermore, I proposes dat dey be exempted from da total 'Sair ban what we is votin' on.

"'Owever, I still votes in favour o' a total ban on da rest o' da 'Sairs...ifn dey want's landin' access, dey needs ta talk to us, aye? Dis acshun on our be'alf is intended to elicit da exact response we got from Da Bruvver'ood, an' we should 'old dis example up ta da uvver 'Sairs in da region...ifn ya only talks to us, we can be reasonable."

She looks down at the floor and mutters, inaudiably, to herself, then looks back up,

"Oh, yeah, 49. From what I remembers from da time I was dere, we 'as enlisted da 'Sairs ta protect da secrecy o' Canaria from 'Tonia. Now, IMG dun' represent 'Tonia or any 'Tonian based firm. From what I know 'bout IMG (an' I knows quite a lot, mind yew), dey is similar ta us in terms o' openness o' trade an' dere concepts o' freedom. As such, I proposes da 'Sairs fink again 'bout 'oo dey is tryin' ta force out o' our system...if knowledge o' da ways inta 49 was ta be freely distributed by da IMG, both dem an' us could be in an 'ole 'eap o' trouble...not ta mention da boost ta our economy minin' in dese fields 'as given...we really dun' wanna loose dat, no?"

Reaching behind her, she pulls out a bottle of pinkish liquid, and takes a long pull, then pulls her head away, spitting violently.

"Pfaw, durn 'angovers...what's dis icky stuff ya found? Oi! Oi!..."

*Rubs face* These votes sure get muddled up easy.

I really can't see any reason, given this new information, that we wouldn't want to go along with the Brotherhood's wishes. So how about instead of changing all of our votes to nay, we just keep them the same, and change the motion, assuming that everyone that was behind it before will still be behind it now..

The longer we stall with this, the later we're going to see it all resolved.

On another note, "kerfuffle" is now my new favorite word.

Well then, The first proposition only applies to OPG? We wouldnt want to offend any other corsair sect who had no part in this...
Comm ID: Malaclypse

Admiral Orphelia, I see no reason to change the intent of our capship ban. In fact, I just received a report from the [TAZ]Crater.Lake regarding an Independent Corsair Gunboat which had to be convinced to leave the vicinity of Freeport 1.

I firmly believe the Brotherhood sees the reason for the capship ban, and will honor it, provided we don't paint them with the same broad brush by banning their vessels completely.

I would agree with Trogdor, that the motion under consideration simply be amended to target OPG and the odd indy who doesn't read the news. Let the original votes stand. That would put the TAZ back into the "Yea" column.

Due to recent events I must agree with the temp. ban.

We must enforce the safety of the Freeport in Omega 3.

We have to show them that Zoners are not to be taken advantage of, or pushed around.

Topic: vote on temporary ban for Corsairs

[font=Palatino Linotype]Dear Delegates,

On behalf of the Zoners Trading Consortium, [color=#FFFFFF]I hereby vote "Nay"
for the temporary ban for the Corsairs faction at Freeport 1. Our justification is as follows.

In our opinion, Zoners -- as a faction playing diplomatically on multiple fronts -- should avoid applying the joint responsibility, at all costs. Instead, we propose to strongly focus on the approach already initiated by Malaclypse a few messages ago. The provocations are always done by individuals. Let us try to discourage these individuals from their activity, and let us not 'throw the baby out with the bath-water' by starting an open, national-level conflict with Corsairs as a whole.

By this occasion, let me share with you some more general concept.

Having read our discussions from the last weeks, me an my Colleagues are concerned about Zoners gradually going deeper into military solutions concepts. We know that sometimes it is unavoidable to defend ourselves military, but we have a feeling that recent days, this way of solving problems has been too easily and too often proposed.

I recall a sentence: "[color=#FFFFFF]If you spend your life on fighting dragons, over time you become a dragon yourself
". These trigger-happy, childish, ill-mannered ruffians are our dragons. If we push them off by just bringing a 'bigger ship' today, they will bring a 'yet bigger ship' tomorrow, and we all end up fighting in battleships, having forgotten who we really were. This will be our defeat and their success, as we will become like them.

We don't have to fight according to their rules. We have something that they don't: our brains, dignity, and contacts. Instead of interacting with the ruffians, let us ignore them and contact their supervisors, asking for clarifications. Let us bring shame on the people who bring shame on their own faction. Contempt experienced from both sides will present a bigger threat to such a young person, than several juggernaughts.

It has worked for us many times already, and we can make it work for us again.

Best regards,
Dr. Werner Mazursky

Topic: An unpleasant encounter

Peace be upon all Zoners,

being an Zoner trader I have traveled through all of the Sirius, yet I have never encountered such an rudeness and unnecessary violence like the one addressed to my persona today from certain Corsair named Argonauta[TBH]. I have traveled to Edinburgh, Perth base in order to purchase some wild life which I planned to sell in Sigma 17 when this claim-to-be Corsair Elder stopped my ship, disturbing my cruise meditation and asking me for 2,000,000 credits in Dublin system.

I was never before pirated by an Corsair, as they claim to be our friends and they often enjoy hospitality of Freeports. Again, if this Corsair is the Elder as he claims, they are certainly setting an bad and dangerous examples for all of their nation.

Those are the reasons why I am bringing this matter to respected Council, hoping that it can be clarified to me and seeking an advise of those who have proven to be much wiser then myself.

In addition to this plea I bring this incomplete recording of our comm conversation:
