If I may suggest an approach to our situation:

1. Contact the Queen & BAF and inquire about their interest in 49. Do they want to annex Canaria, send a few refugees, etc.

2. Give the Corsairs a ring and find out what they want from 49. We don't want to make a deal with the Brets that will piss off our neighbors.

3. Devise a treaty and send it to BAF.

4. Make revision A, revision B, etc

Basic concept: open communications before you start making proposals and getting ideas. So far all I've seen is a few Bowex blokes call our planet by another name. We've no concrete idea as to what the Queen wants.

I have to agree with Mr Lightwing, let's send a delgation to the Bretonians and let's see what their intentions are and what agreements we can come too.

Again with the Corsairs, let's see what we can agree on with them.

As a Zoner I feel the whole point of our existance is to try and bring the whole of Sirius together into one big happy family and not at war with each other as happened on Earth many centuries ago and resulted in us all being in Siriues now, so we need to keep people talking until they can all agree on something.

Is it worth holding some sort of conference open to all of our neighbours and friends in Sirius? Allow them to discuss these and any other issues, as Zoners I think that we need to be taking a lead in bringing some of the factions that currently have tensions between them closer together.

Been thinking this issue over, carefully thinking how we should word things and who to go to first. The more I thought, the bigger the question popped into my pineal, "Is the Bretonian government really involved in this.....yet?" To this point, I've only seen Bowex transports in the area so I'm thinking maybe we need to start with them and see if it ends there.

Mr. Chairman, I like the idea of immigration visas. I mean why not? If that is something we decide to try we'll have to tinker with some rules on it, like grandfathering the =IMG= and the =CR= or just giving them work visas. Of course, we do have other parties making Canaria home to consider and grandfather as well but, this should be on the back burner for now.

I intend to make a holographic message to Bowex in the next day or so to address this before we have another incident in the Canaria Cafe like we did a few days ago, an incident I am not proud of but killed a man out of necessity and self defense, not that he didn't ask for it.

So, if anyone has any comments they would like me to include in this message, do post them. Keep them diplomatic and for now, put aside whatever differences we may have.

Comm ID: Chairman Mal.

Thank you, Delegates Lightwing and Ironfoot. I tend to agree with Doc, that at present only Bowex seems to be "intruding".

Doc, please let the Council know if you need any assistance on the diplomatic front. My guess is that Secretary Reynolds will find a bunch of snoozing bureaucrats down at the "Regional Council", so I would like to keep the "Visa" option open.. perhaps as a bargaining chip for our little "talks".

Since those matters are going forward, I'd like to return again to the issue of "Hostiles". Things seem to have quieted at Freeport 1 and in Omega 49 for the moment.. but there are continuing reports from Delta and Theta.

The Chair will open the floor to "evidence" regarding any repeat offenders we should be actively "discouraging" from visiting our Freeports in the future.

Dear Chairman and members,

I am pleased to announce that yesterday saw the launch of a new addition to the fine Zoner fleet!

I have named this new vessel, (in agreement with my crew), the "White Knight" as a tribute to the first space ship on old Earth that was not run or controlled by any government. I feel this name is a reminder of what we Zoners believe in, free enterprise and the idea that space is not just a place for those few military elites to run.

The White Knight is intended not as a ship of war but as a tool to protect our trade fleet and further our exploration into the Sirius system, on it's maiden voyage from Omicron 74 to Gran Canaria it was immediately used to defend traders against two independant pirates and to help the Council of Zoners by escorting one of our Gallic friends in a Brigand Transport from a diplomatic meeting and towards Gaian space.

Congratulations, sir. Although this does not help dispel the stereotype of Zoners as capital ship loving baboons, I'm sure that your fine vessel will come in handy on a number of occasions.

In the very near future, I will be transmitting my message to the administrator of Borderworld Exports in Leeds. I have taken considerable time putting it together with all the suggestions from you all that I've been given, all of which I thank you for. If I leave something out or something doesn't sound right, I do apologize. Like I said, I took considerable time in putting this together. Some of it may sound a bit forceful but remember, I'm keeping in mind what happened with Planet Erie. Thanks for your patience on the matter.

A well-worded message, Ambassador Holliday. Firm, but respectful as well. Hopefully Bowex will be reasonable.

Also, we congratulate the crew of the White Knight, and wish them safety in an increasingly dangerous Sirius.

Finally, my crew and I have sponsored the construction of a Fearless-class destroyer. Due to a construction mishap, costs and construction time have run a bit higher than expected, but we expect her to be completed within two or three weeks. The crew and captain have already been assembled and are currently training aboard other ships in Omicron-74.

I would like to congratulate Mr. Holliday as well for a fine demonstration of an excellent diplomatic message. I would also like to state I agree with your stance regarding this 'Sydney' issue.

Marks out!
