Mr. Chairman, I liked that part too about Zoners failing to stake a claim. I'm sure the Corsairs made a claim to the houses for Crete or the Outcasts for Malta in their own respective areas of space!!

Poor conditions on Erie? I was there not long ago and it wasn't bad at all. While I do sypathize with refugees, places are already set up to take them in and many of them Zoner run.

I agree with delegate Triton that a meeting should take place although as to where I'm open. I also think that until this issue is settled that we deny more settlers. If nothing else, it will get them to the table faster.
The subject of visas came up awhile back too. I'm still on the fence with that one.

Meeting should be at Gran Canaria since Sidney doesnt exist. I sugest a significant force military stations there to dismiss any toughts of ocupation and that no settlers are allowed.

I am a bit tired of seeing zoners handled like a non significant force by theSirius houses. We should show some steel here if we don't there is no point of even trying to organise the zoners into a coherent force and a significant power.

We are neutral not harmless.

Great Council,

I have to oppose any motion of deploying remarkable military forces in Omega 49 as long as Zoners do not want to claim the whole System for themselves. I do not doubt that any immigrant would not be loving freedom and independence after only a short time, once he would have settled there.

No, our strongest weapons are Zoner Ideals, any kind of prepared violence or the slightest indication of it has only to be used as a last resort. I would rather think that any attempt to conquer Gran Canaria peacefully and by settlement is destined to end in an embarrassing failure. No political system in Sirius, imperialistic at least, can outmatch the benefit of Freedom.

Sincerely,
Louisa

Dear members of the Council

We may have refused to declare the wholse system a Zoner ZoI, but as with any Freeport the NFZ stands and is enforced around Gran Canaria. Thus we might have to remind Bowex that we indeed claim this to be our planet.

We should wait until their representative is willing to meet on "Gran Canaria" and at the time this would happen have a single capital vessel present that is enforcing the NFZ.

Also as part of the negotiations, we should demand the refugee camp run by Bowex at this time is to be placed under Zoner authority, and thus the Refugees would no longer live as 'Resettled Britonians' but rather as our guests and possibly new members of the Zoner community.

Best wishes,
Reisiger Duke

Message reads:

I have to concure that the meeting should be held at Gran Canaria. It puts us at the advantage during negotiations. I also have to agree with Reisiger about the colony. Lets try to assimilate them into our way of life.

A capital ship present to enforce the NFZ may also be a good idea. We would not want the deligates from Bowex to get hurt while visiting our planet. It would be there for their protection.

Sebastian Pyre here broadcasting from the Deadlights. If you need a battleship present for the negotiations I am happy to volunteer. If I can make it I would be more than happy to sit in as a show of support if nothing else and as you mention it may help to enforce the NFZ. I am of the opinion that through reason and the right presence of ships and minds no serious action will be needed. Peace through preparation works well, when everyone feels mutual safety unclouded negotiation may begin.

If I can make a suggestion to the Council not to bring any capital ships to this negotiation. If we desire a security detail, I feel that a fighter class escort will provide as much protection but appear less threatening.

Imagine if you will Bowex meeting us in space to discuss matters of business only to see a Jugger or perhaps an Aquilon cruiser stationed nearby. If I was a BowEx representative I would be s**t scared to say anything remotely liberal for fear of being shot dead by a giant mother of a dreadnought.

We have our response team. I would rather have 3-4 people on call and if something occurs we dial, as they used to say back on Earth, 911.

Sydney? Sydney? Right, I know us Brets placed a wee little prison colony on some remote island-continent on Earth in old Sol, but I find it a touch offensive that they should name our li'lle slice of heaven after such a city in a country with as dubious a' history as that.

Now, I'd quite glady fly guard detail and keep those Imperialistic twats from pulling any stunts, yeah? Got me more than enough caps to buy a wee Eagle.

I just want to inform the Council that I will be taking the Dawn out for an extended cruise and may be unavailable for a couple of weeks. I will try to keep up with things, but there is a chance I may miss a vote or two...or three. Anyways, good luck with getting the Brets to see reason.

Chairmen and all members,

These are my thoughts.

I agree that face-to-face talk on OUR world of Gran Canaria are an excellent oppurtunity to demonstrate our good natured hospitality to Bowex and the Brethonian government and show them that we are a friendly, warm people who welcome all.

I do think though that it would be in-polite of us to not have some sort of "honour" guard to escort them from the Jump hole and towards Gran-Canaria and obviously escort them back to Brethonian space.

This would also re-assure the Bowex delegation that the refugees they have entrusted to us are being protected from predation by some of our less predictable neighbours in that region of space..

My suggestion is at least a medium sized vessel with fighter escort be used to make sure the Bowex ships come to no harm while in our system.

It may also be wise to have a few of our trade fleet ships around the planet to demonstrate how commited the Zoners are to this system.

As mentioned before the crew of the White Knight (Corvo class exploration cruiser), are stationed at Gran-Canaria and is available for such a mission if requested.
